Hey scrappy people, it’s Lisa today and I’m very excited to share my new mini album with you. I used Paige’s newest collection, Truly Grateful.
In August I went to Provence, France with two of my girlfriends. It was so beautiful and fun and I really loved the atmosphere and vibes everywhere we visited. We took a lot of pictures and I wanted to create a pretty mini album to document this beautiful trip.
I often want to make different kinds of mini albums and this time I wanted to make one using a cut file. I went through Paige Evans’ cut files and saw this pretty globe. I thought that it would make the perfect base for a mini album.
I cut out the cut file as is, using a pink patterned paper for the circle and a brown piece of patterned paper for the foot. Then I also cut it out in white, using only the outlines. That part would serve as a base. I also cut out 5 white circles, as big as the circle of the globe, and 10 patterned paper circles, where I reduced the size of the main circle by 1 cm. I wanted to use two of the patterned paper circles on each side of one white circle. The fact that the white circles were bigger, created a frame, which, you must know… I love!
I started by decorating the cover. I used the cut file, backed it with a light pink patterned paper, and decorated with fussy cut flowers, leaves, and sequins. I made three layered flowers that I topped off with a big pearl. The sequins I attached by making french knots with different colors of thread. For the title I used the Truly Grateful Thickers.
I also wanted to decorate the handle of the globe. I used the pink sequins and adhered them all over it. I think it turned out so pretty and sparkly, I really love it!
Since I cut out 10 patterned paper circles, my album would have 10 pages. I laid them all in front of me on my desk and thought about how I would decorate them. I wanted to use a lot of fussy cut pieces as well as stitching. After I had my ideas, I gathered all the pieces I needed, adhered them to my pages, and then used my sewing machine to add stitching details in different ways to every page. I also hand-stitched on two of the pages. After the stitching, I splattered white paint on all of the pages and let it dry. I then added photos to all of my pages, matting them on patterned papers. I finished by decorating them with puffy stickers, ephemera pieces, and wood buttons. To add even more interest, I made a shaker pocket with a heart in the middle.
Let’s take a look at the pages.
Of course, I need some “jewelry” for my album. I created some paper beads and tulle tassels and made them hang off my album. I really hope you like how it turned out! See you soon!
