Hey friends, it’s Lisa back on the blog and today I’m sharing my very last Halloween layout for this year.
The inspiration for this layout came from this amazingly cool Witch Feet cut file from Paige Evans. I always wanted to use witch legs on a layout, so I was really stoked when I saw this one in the cut file store. I wanted to use it with black paper and back it with many wonderful colors from the Truly Grateful collection.
To start, I chose all the papers I wanted to use. Of course I wanted a Halloween color scheme so I chose purple, green, orange, and pink patterned papers. For the shoes, I immediately knew that I wanted to use the speciality paper, it was just perfect for witches shoes. I backed the whole cut file with the papers from the collection and also added some solid colored paper from the Horizon Project Pad. To finish off the shoes, I added enamel dots from my stash.
In fact, the layout, as you see it right now, is not at all how it looked when I first was done with it. I put it aside for days and every time I looked at it, I didn’t like it. So after a week or so, I decided to take the shoes and picture off the page and start new. In my first version, I created some mixed media on the background. I used green, purple, and orange gelatos and smooshed them over the white paper with a baby wipe. Then I stitched some swirls around both legs and finally added some gold stars. You can see it on this (bad quality) photo.
So when I decided not to use this layout, I still wanted to keep the swirls. I cut them out of the paper and was able to use them again. So on my new layout, I went without the mixed media background. I started by adhering the legs to the white paper but slightly different than on the first layout. This way I had more space to place the photo. I also added a frame around the layout, like I do most of the time.
I matted the photo on gold and purple paper and adhered it to the layout using foam tape. The photo is from one year ago when I was at Disneyland for Halloween with two friends and it was just perfect for this layout. Then I added the swirls I had cut out. I have to say that I was really happy with the fact that the swirls had a paper frame around (because I cut them out). I think it looks even better than before.
Then I had the idea to make the legs look as if they were coming out of the ground of a flower garden so I started adding a ton of flowers on the bottom of the layout and also added some on top of the shoes. As a title, I didn’t really know what to use. So I went through the epoxy word stickers and used the word ‘grateful’.
At the end, I added some wood buttons, epoxy and paper star stickers, and gold splatters. I really hope you like it!
