Hi there, it’s Lisa back on the Pink Paislee blog to share a new Christmas layout!
I love Christmas scrapbooking collections and I really enjoy using them… but sometimes I just want to create something Christmassy with other collections. Collections that aren’t at all Christmas-themed and that don’t have the traditional Christmas colors. So on this layout, I used the new Lucky Us collection, which is in fact, a Valentine’s collection. Couldn’t tell? Well, you can use any collection, you just need to use the right colors 😉
Here, I gathered the pink and red patterned papers and added some green ones from other collections.
I started with the background of my layout. I cut off the edges of my white paper and adhered it to a red paper from the Lucky Us collection to create a red frame. Then I stitched all around it with green thread.
The mixed media part was very easy. I didn’t even use gesso. I sprayed some water all around the page, smooshed my gelatos on some plastic packaging, added water, and let it drip onto the paper. I did this with a light green, a darker green, and a pink gelato. Then I let it dry and added gold splatters.
While it was drying completely, I backed the cut file. I used a cut file by Paige Evans that’s called Christmas Frame. I backed it completely with my patterned papers but as I love to do lately, I didn’t glue the pieces exactly straight behind the cut file, I adhered them a bit off so that they would peak out from the sides. I love that effect.
When I was done, I used foam squares to adhere the cut file to the background. For my photo, I used one from the same day as on my last layout but this time it’s in color and it matches the colors of the papers perfectly. I matted it on scraps of paper and adhered it on the left side of the layout.
For my title I used the stickers from the Lucky Us collection and a cardstock sticker. I embellished some more using foam hearts.
I really love how it turned out, the cut file and colors are just the cutest. I hope you are inspired to create a Christmas layout using a non-Christmas collection.
