I can never go past a bit of pink at Christmas (well, any time really!), so adding my favourite pink papers and embellishments from the Truly Grateful collection to other elements and papers from Together for Christmas is the perfect combination of holiday spirit in my book.
To begin, I cut the December cut file from Paige Evans in white cardstock and backed each letter with one of three different papers in red and pink. I love that the plaid on Paper 24 from Truly Grateful combines both the red and pink which ties everything together nicely! It also goes nicely with the pink tones in my silly photo.
I wanted my title to really stand out on the page so I did two things. First, I literally made it stand off the page by added craft foam to the back of the cut file. And secondly, I chose a contrasting teal coloured paper from Together for Christmas as my background.
Before I glued anything down, I trimmed a quarter inch off all the sides of my teal background and then added a woodgrain paper with my sewing machine to really frame the layout and add a little bit of texture.
Once I had my cut file and photo glued into place, I worked on adding the second part of my title to the bottom of the page. This acts as a bit of journalling for the layout as well. I combined the foam alphas from Truly Grateful, carefully choosing only pink or red tones. I layered these letters both above and beside my cut file. Then I used some smaller gold puffy alphas from the Indigo & Ivy collection to finish my title.
Then I went a little bit crazy with cardstock stickers from Together for Christmas as well as a few from the Project Pad. I kept all the stickers to the same colours as the layout: gingerbread (brown), candy (red) and sparkle (gold). I still wanted a bit more glitz for this layout (it is almost Christmas after all) so I used some of the sequins from Truly Grateful and glued them all over the layout.
Here’s a quick process of how this layout came together …
Just because a collection isn’t geared towards the holiday season, doesn’t mean it can’t add the perfect touches! I just love how this layout came together, the colours scream “Christmas” to me!
