Hi everyone! It’s Kylie back with you today with a fun new layout I have recently created. As you may of seen me mention before I never get tired of creating with florals so that again was the main focus for my layout today. I wanted to created a simplified design that had many layers of texture which was achieved using a small amount of mixed media and a whole lot of fussy cutting. The Truly Grateful collection was perfect for creating my layout.
Working with a white background, I added an inch ‘L’ shaped border on the bottom right hand corner using Paper 19. Next, using a polka dot stencil by Paige Evans, a little modeling paste was added through the centre on a diagonal. Once dry, I added a Flower Corner cut file by Paige Evans, also cut from white cardstock, over the lower right hand corner of my background. This cut file wasn’t to be a stand out in my layout as most of it does get covered up, but I wanted it to add interest and texture to my background. At this point you could just see a little of the polka dot behind the cut file, adding a nice texture to the background.
I really enjoy fussy cutting so next I cut lots of blooms and foliage from Papers 02 and 05 in all shapes, colors, and sizes. These were adhered scattered throughout my layout, some adhered flat and others with foam tape for dimension.
My photo was nestled amongst the blooms and I added a small subtitle from the puffy word stickers. A little ‘XO’ was also added using the alpha foam Thickers.
A few extra embellishments were also added here and there for where I thought I needed a little extra balance in my design. Once completed I loved all the multiple layers in my layout.
So you can see the process of my layout coming together, I have also filmed a short video for you to watch. Hope you enjoy!
Thanks so much for taking a look at my latest layout today. I hope it gives you a little inspiration for your own creating.
