Hi scrappy friends, it’s Lisa back and today I’m sharing a fun layout I made using a beautiful Star cut file by Paige Evans and the Truly Grateful collection.
Before I came up with this layout, I created two others… neither of them I liked!! Haha… Oh yeah, that still happens to me. I have ideas but they do not turn out as I want them to and I don’t want to finish the layouts because I know it’ll not be worth it. Soooo, when I have these moments, where my head is kinda empty and all I’m making doesn’t satisfy me, I go and choose a cut file. That way, I give myself a starting point and I can base the whole layout on that design.
This time I chose this big Star cut file by Paige Evans. I wanted to use rainbow colors to back it. So I went through the Truly Grateful papers and also chose some from Horizon. For each part of the star, I took 4 patterned papers from the same color families. I used pink, orange, green, blue, and purple. For the centerI used vellum.
When I had the cut file ready, I chose a paper for my background. A white background with some mixed media would’ve have been very cool, but I decided to go a bit darker and use a patterned paper from Truly Grateful. I wanted to have a lot of stars on this layout and this dark blue paper already had a ton of stars on it. I think it looks a lot like a starry night with fireworks!
Before I adhered the backed cut file, I splattered white paint on the background. I chose a photo and backed it with a colorful patterned paper. Then I placed it beside the star and adhered everything down. For my title, I used two different kinds of Thickers. The colored ones are from the Truly Grateful collection and the white foam ones are from the Pick-Me-Up collection. The title means that I’m excited for the new year and that I can’t wait for all the cool things to happen.
To embellish, I used fussy-cut flowers, stickers, and puffy stickers. I also hand-cut and punched stars to place around the big star and make it look more like a small explosion. To finish, I added gold splatters.
I really hope you like it, thank you so much for being here. See you soon!
