Hello everyone! It’s Kylie with you all again today with a fun little mini album I have been working on. This is such a cute and easy album to make and I want to share with you how it came together. I couldn’t resist working with the new Bloom Street collection for this project and have used some of my favorite embellishments to enhance my photos. I’ve made this type of fold out design many times before, however usually as a pop out card. It was recently I adapted it to a mini album and have loved the finished results. It is difficult to share how this cutie folds out in photos, so I have also prepared a step-by-step video for you all to follow.
To begin, I have taken a 12 x 12″ piece of colored cardstock from my craft stash and cut 3 – 6 x 6″ squares. My video below shares exactly how to fold and adhere the pieces together. It can be a little tricky at first but the best tip I can give you is to make sure you have nice sharp fold lines. Once my 3 pieces were adhered together I lined each section with paper 20 (using both sides) as a background highlight for my album.
My photos were printed quite small- around 2-1/2 x 2-1/2″ square and in black & white format so the colors of my embellishments really pop. I’ve used a lot of the puffy word stickers (always a fave) as well as stickers from the sticker book to layer over my images.
The floral blooms on paper 2 are so, SO pretty and I have fussy cut several to layer over each other in a cluster. I really tried to fill every corner of my album with detail and color.
Since I am not a huge fan of my handwriting, I added my journal strips which were typed and printed. I’ve made the font quite bold to make them really stand out. Each strip was trimmed down individually and quite narrow before adhering into place.
I loved how easy this album came together and how much fun it was to create! Once all the glue was dry it was so easy to fold back together and once it was, it measures a cute 3 x 3″ in size. For fun, I added two of the Bloom Street tassels. The album will stay closed on its own but I also like to add a small clip to keep it snug.
As I mentioned earlier, I have prepared a video tutorial for you to follow along with:
Thanks for taking a look at my mini album today! I really hope you enjoyed seeing it and it inspires you to try making one for yourself. Take care!
