Hey friends, it’s Lisa¬†Fonseca back on the blog and today I’m sharing some cute balloon cards I made using the new 5th & Monaco collection.

I have to be honest, this time, I really struggled to find a good and fun idea for cards. You know, I have these days, where nothing’s good enough and I don’t want to make something usual. I want to find a new, fun idea… but sometimes when you think too much, you can’t come up with anything at all… Does it happen to you too?

So, after abandoning a ton of ideas, I had this one. Creating balloons and using banners as the balloon strings. I think they turned out pretty cute!

For the bases of my cards, I drew a balloon shape and cut it out. I used it as a stencil on two patterned papers. A bright pink one and a striped one. Then I cut the shapes out and hand-stitched around them to give them texture and interest.

For my sentiments, I hand-cut letters out of patterned papers. For the pink card, I used a lot of different papers, for the striped card, I only used a black patterned paper, because the stripes were already too busy, so I didn’t want to add a lot of other patterns and colors. I adhered all the letters to white cardstock and cut out the words, leaving a white border.

The white border makes the letters stand out more. I attached one of the words, using foam squares and the second one, I attached on the card flat.¬†That way, I created some dimension. I also wanted to create bows… I LOVE bows!

I hand-cut out the shapes to make the bows and layered two of them (one big, one small), for both of the cards. For the middle part of the bows, I used some thread and tulle and wrapped them around the middle, attaching the two bows. Then I adhered them to the bottom part of the balloons.

To decorate the balloons, I used fussy-cut flowers and also some fabric flowers. I added an enamel dot to some of them.

For the strings of the balloons, I used a few different ribbons and some tulle. The wavy pink ribbon, as well as the mint ribbon with stars, are from older Pink Paislee collections. The other ones are from my stash.

I hope you like the cards and are inspired to create some balloon cards too. See you soon!
