Hey scrappy people, it’s Lisa back on the blog today and I’m sharing a very dreamy mini album.
I love using strings and tassels and paper beads and all the things you can hang off a mini album. So when I had the idea to create a mini in the shape of a dreamcatcher, I was really excited because I new it would give me the perfect opportunity to add a lot tassels to it.
The cover of the mini album is made with a cut file by Paige Evans called Dreamcatcher. I used the circle and some of the feathers from the cut file. I cut them out from one of the watercolor patterned papers from the collection and backed them with patterned papers and vellum (for the circle.)
To embellish the cover, I created some hand-cut flowers and leaves. It’s very easy to create flowers like these. You just need to cut out some wonky flower shapes, going from big to small, and then to layer them. For the center, I cut out a circle and cut into it, from the outside to the center, many times, all around, and topped it off with a puffy circle. To give my flowers more texture, I distressed the edges with scissors.
I created three of those, added some leaves that I cut out from green patterned papers, and also added some fussy-cut flowers. I hand-cut the letters to write the word HAWAII, added them to the cover, and then finished with a cute butterfly and three punched stars.
For the strings hanging from the album, I made 27 paper beads. I have tutorials on my YouTube channel for them. I threaded 9 beads on each string, adding a little pompom and the feather from the cut file. I love how that looks!
For the inside of my album, I used circles the same size as the cover. I cut out 16 circles and machine-stitched two of them together each time, to have 8 pages in total. Here are all the pages from the album. I’ll explain some of the techniques I used for my favorite ones.
On the bottom page, I used little flags/arrows, I had fussy-cut out from one of the patterned papers. I arranged them in a circle shape in rainbow order and then stitched trough the middle.
Here, on the bottom page, I attached a lot of triangles, creating three circles. The triangles are from one of the patterned papers. I also stitched all around to create more texture. If you look closely, you can see a little purple flap peeking out of the right hand side of the photo. You can pull it out and you will have to more pictures adhered together with a piece of washi.
On the top page, I used a flower wreath die on a purple patterned paper. To each flower, I added a flower sequin and a round sequin and attached them with a french knot. On the photos, you can see this glittery dot. It’s a brad. You can push the top photo down and it’ll reveal two more photos.
For the top page, I cut out the letter “L” from one of the patterned papers. Behind the photo there are five more photos you can pull out and that are attached together with a brad.
I love the look on the bottom photo. I fussy-cut out those half circles from a patterned paper and arranged them all around the page, creating this scalloped border. I tucked the photo in behind the scallops and flowers and you can turn the photo up to the top to see another photo behind it.
Hearts and fussy-cut flowers… Also used some word stickers, rhinestones, and tiny alpha stickers from the sticker book.
On the top page, I used one of the stamps from the collection to give the left side of the page this cool golden look and texture. I also love mixing and matching the letters from the puffy word stickers.
On the top page, I used a lot of fussy-cut flowers and arranged them all around the page. There also two other photos tucked behind the top one. On the bottom page, I created a rainbow using different patterned papers.
I hope you like the mini album. Thank you so much for stopping by!
