Hello again scrappy friends! It’s Kylie back with you again to share a new layout I have completed with the 5th & Monaco collection. Today’s inspiration for me was all about creating my own unique background. There are so many gorgeous papers in this collection, making me want to use a whole bunch of them at once.
A white cardstock was selected for my background and I began layering strips of various papers over each other. I distressed the edges a little so that my design would feature a little dimension. There are certainly no rules with this method other than I try to have a good balance of color and shape.
My photo was mounted and adhered to the layout with foam tape as I really wanted it to sit up and away from the background. Once in place, I started to add various die cuts around the base of my photo as well as a separate cluster to the right of it.
Once I was happy with the balance of my layout I finished it by adding some of the gorgeous foam flowers. Since I had used monochromatic die cuts, the foam flowers really added a lovely burst of colour as well as dimension to my completed designs.I think these blooms will be my new obsession!
Creating a layered background is one of my most favorite methods of scrapbooking. Not only does it give your layout a lovely texture, dimension, and loads of color, but it is also a great way of being able to use any leftover strips of paper you may have.
Thanks for stopping by the blog today. I hope you have enjoyed seeing my layout! Happy scrapping!
