Die Cut Cards | Diane Williams

When a new collection comes out, I can NEVER choose just one or two papers to create a card from. And with this striped and die cut card style, I don’t have to! It meant I could add as many of the lovely new Bloom Street papers as I wanted, to create this fun and simple card.

To begin, trim a piece of scrap cardstock to about a 1/4 inch smaller than your card base. I added double sided adhesive paper to mine but you could easily use wet adhesive or tape runner as you go. Then I trimmed down a bunch of patterned papers from the Bloom Street collection to 1/2 inch wide.

I used the papers from the 6×8 Paper Pad because they have a smaller scaled-down size which works perfectly on smaller projects like cards. The foiling on these papers also makes the card super sparkly!

Then I arranged my strips onto the adhesive cardstock, making sure to place each strip right up against the other. I chose to add my strips horizontally, but you could add them vertically or on a diagonal if you wanted too. This style of card is easily customisable to make it exactly how you want! Once all the strips are covering the cardstock, I used scissors to trim off any of the over hang.

Then I used some thin metal alpha dies to die cut the sentiment, cutting right through the strips and the backing cardstock. You can keep those pieces and use them to make additional cards later on!

Then I trimmed an additional piece of patterned paper to the same size as the striped piece and adhered it to my card front before adding foam tape to the back of my die cut piece. Make you you add enough foam tape that none of the edges of your die cut sentiment will get squashed in the mail. And don’t forget to add tiny bits of foam tape to all the little pieces on the die cut letters!

The last thing to do is to adhere the front onto the card base, making sure to line it up exactly with the patterned paper backing. Then I added a few gorgeous gems by tucking them under the die cut piece so the were peeking out and adding a glimpse of sparkle.

I love how bright and colourful these cards are and just how simple it is to show off all the gorgeous papers in the Bloom Street collection with them!
