As the weather turns colder here in New Zealand, I wanted to celebrate the last bloom of Summer with a bright, pretty, floral layout using the Bloom Street collection.
I started with the Flower Heart cut file from Paige Evans, which I cut from white cardstock. I chose a deep green background paper to really help my photos pop off the page.
I didn’t want to fill in all the the intricate cut file with patterned papers so I decided where my photo and cut file would be placed on the page and then chose three spots to back with papers. This creates a visual triangle to really help the eye be drawn around the layout.
I filled in a few flowers using papers from the 6×8 Paper Pad as well as some smaller patterns from the 2×2 Swatch Books. I added craft foam behind the filled areas and then glued the rest directly to the background paper. Then I used white paint to create splatters all around the heart.
I added my photos, using craft foam under the top one for dimension. Then I used floral die cuts to create larger clusters around the areas of the cut file that I had already backed. I added a few gems to some of the flowers too.
I created my title using both the puffy phrase and smaller puffy word stickers. I love how it became a play on the title of the collection! I added my journalling beside my title using a white gel pen.
Then I adhered a few sequins around the three floral clusters. I used a mixture of the purple flowers sequins and the shinier white sequins for a bit of added pop!
As a finishing touch, I tore the background paper at the top and bottom and created a space for a second pattern to peek through by folding back the edges.
Here is a quick process video showing you how this page came together…
This feels like such a pretty way to end the Summer and I can’t wait for all the new blooms of next year!
