Check out the process video:
I started by having my Cricut cut my Heart Stitching Holes cut file from white cardstock – it’s basically holes in the shape of a heart – ready for hand stitching! Then I did a chain link stitch with all six strands of white DMC embroidery floss. It took about an hour to stitch the entire heart. You could do a basic back stitch which would be much faster, or skip this step all together and perhaps draw a heart.
I LOVE the texture and dimension that the chain link stitched heart adds and the monochromatic look of the white-on-white.
I wanted to use new pics of me and my husband, so I grabbed him and snapped a few. I printed them right then and there at home on my Canon Pro-100 with Canon photo paper. I slightly overlapped the photos on the bottom left side and trimmed any parts hanging over the stitched heart.
Then I filled in the rest of the heart with all kinds of Bloom Street goodness. I started with larger bits like pieces from the Ephemera Die Cuts, Floral Die Cuts, and Cardstock Stickers, filled in any spaces with images and words from the 4-Page Sticker Book and Puffy Vinyl Stickers, then added tiny Enamel Dots last. Again if anything was overlapping the stitching, I trimmed it off.
Continuing with the white-on-white theme, I placed three white Puffy Word Stickers around the outside of the heart and wrote with a pencil a few words to turn them into sentiments. “You take my BREATH away”, “you are so DREAMY to me!” and “you make me SMILE every day!”
To finish, I splashed watered down white acrylic paint around and near the three sentiments. Once that dried my layout was finished! Straightforward, fun, and I love that I have this moment of us right now documented!
Thanks for stopping by – have a wonderful day!
