Meet Special Events Member Greta Hammond

Welcome back Greta to our team! She will be returning as a “Special Events” member, helping us out with specific project needs.

A little about Greta:

My real creative passion began when I discovered scrapbooking about eleven years ago after my son was born. The outlet scrapbooking provided was just what I needed after leaving the corporate world and staying home with my son. For the past seven years, I have had the privilege of doing freelance work with a number of industry manufacturers and magazines as well as co-authoring an idea book. I live in a small town in Northern Indiana with my husband and two kids. When I am not creating, I am volunteering at the school and hauling the kids around!

How did you get started in paper crafting?

See above! I have always loved crafty things but never took the time to explore them until scrapbooking came along and then I was hooked!

What inspires you to create?

I am inspired in lots of ways! Depending on the assignment or objective, I can be inspired by pretty papers and embellishments or by the story I want to tell or photos I want to use.

Do you prefer layouts, altered projects, cards…or all of the above?

All of the above! I love the variety…it keeps me from getting bored!

How would you describe your style?

Linear layers with bursts of details throughout.

A fun fact about you?

I must really be quite boring cause I can’t think of anything fun about me! Hmmm….ok, well, I only wear one contact, my graduating class was only 34, I get cranky without a diet coke everyday and my hair highlights are all natural!

Any other hobbies?

Scrapbooking is both work and hobby for me. I don’t typically have a lot of free time but when I do, I love to curl up with a good book!

What is your favorite Pink Paislee product?

It’s hard to pick a favorite but one thing I love about Pink Paislee lines are the wide of variety of embellishments. There is always something new and fun to choose from!

Thank you, Greta, we are honored to have you back and love your work!

Greta does not have a blog, but you will be seeing more her work around here at Pink Paislee!

Meet Special Events Team Member Trisha Ladouceur

Allow me to introduce another new team member this year, her name is Trisha and she’s from Canada! She is going to help us with special events throughout the year!

A little about Trisha:

Trisha has been an avid scrapbooker for more than 13 years and taught for at least 11 years at retail stores and conventions- big and small. She has been married to her best friend Drew for more than 19 years and they have 2 wild but extremely handsome boys who are more often then not the source of her inspiration. She resides in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where the long, cold winters provide ample opportunity to scrapbook in her studio at home.

Trisha feels so extremely blessed to be able to combine her love for travel with her passion for paper crafting and teaching. She has had the privilege of teaching numerous classes coast to coast in both Canada and the United States as well as the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Norway, The Netherlands and Australia. She has had the good fortune to teach on board 3 different cruises to date and looks forward to seeing where she will get to explore next in this wonderful journey called life. Being able to share her scrapbooking addiction with papercrafters everywhere is something she is so very thankful for.

In 2012, Trisha is thrilled to have predominantly paired up with Authentique as their AUTH-orized Educator and Pink Paislee as their Endorsed Educator. These 2 companies offer beautiful products that each satisfy a different part of Trisha’s crafty desires.  Her long time love affair with all things Prima will continue to make an appearance in her class line up as well. In years past, Trisha has had the pleasure of teaching many other classes as an Endorsed Educator and or Design team Member for companies such as Tattered Angels, My Mind’s Eye, Teresa Collins Designs, Graphic 45, 7 Gypsies and Prima.

Trisha has had numerous projects and articles published in various magazines and is currently a contributing writer for Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine.

How did you get started in paper crafting?

I officially got into scrapbooking more than 13 years ago when my oldest son was born. Prior to that, I had scrapbooked without knowing there was an actually world of beautiful papers and embellishments awaiting my discovery! I remember as a child creating travel journals, complete with photos, post cards, stickers and souvenirs, with each vacation at my Mom’s insistence. I also remember creating a special photo album for my Grandparents 50th wedding anniversary where I decorated the pages with photos, black photo corners and stickers. I had all guests of the party write little notes to them that I included throughout. My grandmother to this day cherishes that album and still claims it to be her favourite of all I have created for her over the years.

What inspires you to create?

I find inspiration in so many different places. Usually it is my children or family as I want to obviously preserve the special memories of everyday life as they grow. More often than not I now find myself creating for more selfish reasons though (and I am 100% okay with that). I scrapbook the way I do now because I LOVE the craft! I enjoy getting lost in my studio for hours on end and just “playing”. I feeds my creative spirit and without it I would not be the person I am today. This hobby that has become a lifestyle for me and my family. Let’s face it, a simple, old fashioned scrapbook with pictures and journalling about those photos will be cherished just as much by future generations as the ones I have today that are bursting with beautiful papers and fabulous embellishments… all those yummy things are ultimately included because I like them… and I like the PROCESS of creating the pages that house the memories.

Do you prefer layouts, altered projects, cards…or all of the above?

I like a little bit of everything… depending on which mood strikes when I am in my studio or what projects are on my “to do” list for upcoming classes, etc.

How would you describe your style?

I love to create projects that are very detail oriented and incorporate texture and dimension wherever possible. I love to add little surprises that make you wonder why you didn’t think of that. You will not find a “flat” project anywhere in my portfolio. The best part of it all is that I take pride in my abilities as a teacher and show my students that by breaking down even the most complex of projects into simplified steps, all projects can be accomplished by any level of crafter.

I often use the phrase “Lumps and Bumps are a GOOD thing”… I encourage people to embrace them! Too often I hear people saying they do not know how or don’t want to use dimensional objects on their layouts as it won’t “fit” in their albums. My answer to that… rules are made to be broken! The world would be a pretty boring place if it were flat and scrapbook pages are no different. I also love to create pages that beckon to be touched. Whether I include interactive components (tags, pockets, flaps, etc) or beautiful textures on my projects, I want it to come to life- so to speak.

A fun fact about you?

In my past life, as I call it, I was a lab geek! A certified Vampire;) YUP! I gave up a career of sucking blood, playing with body parts and fluids in the hospital to teach scrapbooking classes around the globe. I have to say that it was a pretty easy switch and I am not so sure I could ever go back to it after being a part of such an amazing industry! Being able to travel the world, meeting amazing people at each location and being able to share my addiction with fellow crafters is a blessing for which I will be eternally grateful!

Any other hobbies?

No time for any other hobbies!!!!!!

What is your favorite Pink Paislee product?

The Mistables have been the products I have had the most experience working with thus far… I love having the ability to customize each and every project with a bit of spray or ink. I also LOVED the Parisian Anthology Collection… I am pretty certain though that the next CHA- W release will be come my NEW favourite! I can be easily distracted ;) lol!

Trisha sent us this beautiful layout made with Pink Paislee’s Sweetness line!

Meet Creative Team Member Roree Rumph

Please help me welcome back card maker extraordinaire, Roree, to our team!

A little about Roree:

I am a mom to my two daughters, Grace and Harper and married to my best friend, David. (We’re at 18 years and counting! ) I started paper crafting about 7 years ago. My first love in paper crafting is making cards, but I also enjoy scrapbooking and altering items too. Sewing is one of my very favorite techniques in this craft. I learned to sew because of scrapbooking, and you can usually find some sort of hand or machine stitching on my projects. I am crazy about color and texture, which means you will rarely see me making anything flat or neutral. It is just not my style.

I have worked with many manufacturers and kit clubs, and Pink Paislee is one of my favorites. I am so happy to be staying on with them again for another year. I have also been fortunate to be published in a variety of paper crafting magazines, including Cards, Scrapbook Trends, Simply Handmade, Cricut Magazine, Creating Keepsakes, Paper Crafts, and Scrapbook & Cards Today.

How did you get started in paper crafting?

I was looking to buy invitations for my daughter’s fifth birthday party, and the ones that I really liked were a little more than I wanted to pay. I decided to try and make my own. I ended up getting a lot of compliments on them. After that, I was hooked. I got on the computer and found a whole, big online community devoted to this hobby, and I jumped right on in.

How would you describe your style?

I hate answering this question, because I am never quite sure what to say. I guess colorful and a bit whimsical??? I love to use color, but I like it to be just a touch distressed. I tend to be pretty detail oriented, and I like my project to look like they have a lot of hand detailing. Lots of hand or machine stitching, layers, pretty bows, etc, etc.

What inspires you to create?

Products, colors, patterns, art, magazines, the Internet, other people’s work, etc… a little bit of everything, really.

Do you prefer layouts, altered projects, cards…or all of the above?

I really like to do it all, but I have a special love for making cards.

Any other hobbies?

I am addicted to playing word and puzzle games on my iPhone/iPad. Also, I love to watch TV. I really wish I was more outdoors-y, but I tend to be a big couch potato.

Tell us a fun fact about you…

I love big dogs. (No little yappy dogs for me.) I have a Great Dane and an English Mastiff, and they are my babies.

What is your favorite Pink Paislee product?

One of my favorites lately has been the Wood Shop Alphabets.

We asked Roree to share one of her favorite Pink Paislee projects, and she sent us this super cute mini book she made about her family…

Meet Creative Team Member Mona Pendleton

Please help me welcome Mona to our new creation team this year! She has been filling in for us the past few months, and now we’ve added her as a permanent part of our team!

A little about Mona:

My name is Mona Pendleton, I live with my sweet husband, Scott, two teenage step children, Connor 16, Meredith 14 and two 5 year old Westies, Gretchen and Griffin in Phoenix, AZ. I have two college age young adult children as well, Jerry 24 and Angie 22. I work part-time as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room of an Orthopedic Hospital and in my spare time, I find it enjoyable to use the other side of my brain, playing with paper crafting products creating various projects. I first started scrapbooking too long ago to remember when which spilled over into card making, creating home décor projects and gifts for family, friends and coworkers.

I love lots of layers, colors and find happiness in all the little details!

How did you get started in paper crafting?

My love for paper crafting began years ago when I started making scrapbooking photos of my children. Since then, I have branched out into making cards and home decor projects.

What inspires you to create?

Scrapping layouts featuring my loved one’s that may be treasured for years to come or making a hand crafted item whether it is a card or altered item for a friend is what inspires me to create.

Do you prefer layouts, altered projects, cards…or all of the above?

I don’t have a preference, I love to try it all!

How would you describe your style?

Oh, that’s a tough one! I think I have a predominantly Vintage/Shabby style on the simpler side.

A fun fact about you?

I have a great sense of humor and try to look at the glass as being half full rather than half empty.

Any other hobbies?

Fitness especially bicycling.

What is your favorite Pink Paislee product?

The Vintage Vogue Spool Buttons are so fun and timeless!

Mona sent us these beautiful projects. We adore her soft style…

Meet Creative Team Member Felicitas Klink

Also, today we would love to welcome Felicitas to our team! She is from Germany! Let me tell you more about her…

A little about Felicitas:

Hi everyone! My Name is Felicitas Klink and I live in Stuttgart (Germany) with my supportive husband Steffen. I’m happy to be a full time artist, and I’m addicted to paper and colors. I started paper crafting in 2009 and I had a huge crush on classical scrapbooking with paper, scissors and glue. In 2010, I took a look inside the mixed media world and I totally fell in love with. Since that date I try to combine those both worlds as you see in my art work.

I host a bilingual weblog at www.felicitasklink.de where I share my latest projects and routinely videos, and I post DIY-Tutorials for ongoing techniques and samples. At this moment, I am on two other international design teams. I also write for a German speaking scrap magazine. My art work is very detail oriented. I have a passion for mixing different colors, styles and supplies in my projects. By combining all those items, I create multi-layered scrapbooking layouts, cards and mixed media art.

How did you get started in paper crafting?

I always was creative. My mom always has crafted with us kids. When I was a teenager I started painting and cardmaking. In summer 2009, I found my very first YouTube video about scrapbooking and I fell totally in love with it. I watched tons of those videos and surfed so many blogs before I made my very first scrapbooking project. I think videos are a great medium to learn techniques or watch something new, because you really “see” something.

What inspires you to create?

I read lots of creativity weblogs, not only scrapbooking, but I also browse mixed media, fashion and food based blogs, as well as lifestyle blogs. I read home decor magazines and books, and of course I see so much inspriration at Pinterest and Social Networks like Facebook.

Do you prefer layouts, altered projects, cards…or all of the above?

When I started scrapbooking, I created lots of layouts (12×12) and cards. But now I also love home decor pieces in mixed media style. For me it’s very important to create. I love the creative process as itself. I love to put different supply pieces on a table and create something completely new out of it. That’s why I’m doing that. So, it’s not really important what kind of art work I’m creating.

How would you describe your style?

Oh, that’s hard. I love colors and layering and love to mix it all up. But I also have a crush on this light and bright look. My art work compromise all together, or it’s something between. I think it’s important to try something new and to combine pieces that doesn’t match at the first sight.

A fun fact about you?

When I’m driving in my car through the city on very familiar streets like the repeating way to the bakery or something like that, I have a bad habit on crossroads: I memorize all sequences of the traffic lights. This is why I hate road works or break downs because it confuses my counting.

Any other hobbies?

Oh, I love to try new recipies in the kitchen with my husband and to cook special dinner for family and friends. I also go geocaching on weekends and free time. But to be honest: in the last months, I had no time for that.

What is your favorite Pink Paislee product?

Oh boy, that’s really hard! I think I love Pink Paislee’s paper collections most, especially Nantucket. I bought all the papers twice! The new Mistables and Wood Shop are also very cool. I adore color sprays, which these supplies are great to combine with. But in general, it’s all about the versatility of the Pink Paislee’s products. I think that is why every papercrafter likes it as much as I do.

Felicitas sent us one of her favorite mixed media projects created with Pink Paislee products…quite detailed in its layering, don’t you agree?
