Product Pick {Wood Shop Alphas}

Hello Pink Paislee fans! Karola here again with another layout.

Today I would like to focus your attention on one of the fantastic Pink Paislee products that was released last July.  You might know this product very well, but today I’ll show you another way of how you can use the Wood Shop Alphas!

This time I had more than enough ideas on how to use these wooden letters. They have only 2mm thick and as you know we  think that wood is a new chipboard! Why? It’s easy – you can coat it with any type of medium, they are so versatile, very durable and give so many possibilities! You can make of them the titles, subtitles, add it as an embellies, you can create a game, a toy for your child… When I looked at scattered letters on my table it come to my mind the idea – I create a layout of the words chaos in my head. You also sometimes have the feeling that you have clutter in your head thoughts, ideas? Important to this chaos was controlled! :) Additionally, I thought that this layout will be talking a little about my passion for writing.

But firstly I prepared wooden letters. I wanted to add a bit of texture, so painted it using pearl dabber paint – I added more paint than usual. You can always create this effect using a sponge, not a brush. Apply the paint carefully touching the surface, it will be drying a little longer than a thin coat of paint but do not worry, for to speed up drying, you can use carefully heat embossing gun.

I decided that I create a background with the letters. Deliberately placed them in a string of words with no meaning, but you can create in this way a background with a specific title, quote, or words that are important to you. As I mentioned before – I painted almost all letters using white pearl dabber paint, but I left a few and painted it white acrylic paint and misted using Aquamarine glimmer mist. Those letters make a part of my title “WORDS”. I created my page combining Nantucket and Vintage Vogue collections and added a lots of tiny details made of die cuts, brads and other embellies from a few other Pink Paislee lines.

And here are a few close-ups:

I hope my today’s post will inspired you to use Wood Shop Alphas in an interesting way! If you create a projects with this great product – please upload it to our Live Pink Gallery – we love looking at your creations!

Four not-too-scary photos

Hi Pink Paislee fans! It’s me Karola again. This time I want to share a layout I created using our beautiful Phantom collection, but in a non-Halloween theme. Ok, maybe a little bit… ;)

I believe that in every woman there is a little bit of a witch personality. I hope this is not a controversial opinion. Just remember all these nervous times when you simply go out of ourselves, we have totally enough of everything, nerves to bear us, and we are really horrible! Although on a daily basis we are quite nice and gentle ladies! I too have these days, and sometimes I feel really like a witch! My task for today was: make a Lo with four photos. Unfortunately, I don’t have any scary photos of me, I have nothing of what would be in Halloween theme, so I used quite ordinary photos – without a crooked witch nose, no pimples or scars, even without botox! But I decided to add some funny accents on photos and next to them. Thanks to Phantom collection it was very easy! See how you can easily create an “about me” layout with a great sense of black humor and distance to yourself!

I decided to add a one more color to this Halloween palette to make it a little bit different and unique. Used Mistables paper as a background with a “broken china” distress ink and a few Mistables Alphas. I love this color combination! I used here some of Phantom – Clear Transparent Frames, they are absolutely perfectly clear and very thick, so you can use it on your photos!

How do I add a little femininity to my LO – flowers are the best! You can use these from Phantom – Banner Kit.

Product Pick – Phantom Papers

Hello everyone! Karola here with something… spooky today!

This month we working with Phantom collection - absolutely great collection for Halloween! Actually  in Poland we do not celebrate Halloween, but I have a huge fun working with this kind of collection. Today I would like to show you what can be created using only (almost!) papers from the Phantom line.

For a long time I thought what can I do, until one day – had an epiphany! I thought to myself: what you can do on the Halloween evening? You can have fun, partying, you can threaten, you can go crazy, but when you have a small child and live in a country where it does not go into the street with the bag full of sweetness and slogan: “trick or treat!” – you can just stay at home among friends, watching horrors, eating pumpking soup and play the game…

And I created a game … These are mini-checkers! I never learned to play chess, but I really like checkers, so I thought that this easy and pretty fun game can give fun to everyone. The game usually should be stored in something – I found a great cardboard box, which I decorated with papers and some small additions. I fussy cutting some elements from Phantom – Haunted paper and added a few Vintage Vogue – Paper Rosettes. I found in my stash a few embellies from last year’s Hocus Pocus collection,  and I thought that some glitter stickers will fit perfectly here.

Inside are checkers. Board have made using 8 x 8  canvas, I painted it white and green paint, and then I added the appropriate board … It is somewhat weird, because quite different than those to which we are accustomed. In this way my game is even more unique and … a little harder to play! Instead of square fields we have here a large dots – it’s Phantom – Obscure paper.

Pawns are made also using only paper – I cut out circles and pasted foam dots underneath to give them dimension.

And here are some close -ups:

Mist Mania {Mix Your Mist Colors}

Hello everyone! Karola here with my next Pink Paislee project. Today we have a very cool topic: Mist Mania. What do you think about color mists? There are very trendy and so helpful to develop our creative paths. Some time ago I was not so interested in using mists, I thought that it was on of those paint mediums in which we can’t control; those ugly splashes, those weird spots – I can’t use them! Now, I laugh when I remind myself of those doubts.  I’m in love with mists now and with any product which is developed to help me use them, like the masks.

Today I will show you how I altered the Mistables Wood Shadowbox Frame with photos of my daugther Rose. This gorgeous frame was painted with white acrylic paint and sprayed using 4 colors of Tattered Angels mists…

But… first I want to show you how you can mix your mists to make it perfectly suited to colors for a specific paper collection. I know – there are lots of scrappers, who have in their stash every color of glimmer mists, but I know also those scrappers, who – like me – don’t have that many. So – we always can make our own individual hue. With a few trying mistakes I combined 2 colors of chalk mists to make a beautiful purple and mint  hues – exactly the same which we can find in Vintage Vogue collection.

To make a mint hue I used mix of Lime Pie and Aquamarine Glimmer Mists.  I sprayed first layer with one mists and second layer with other and using baby wipes I mix these two colors in one. This color is the same like in Vintage Vogue – Dress Shop paper, Vintage Vogue – Paper Rosettes and other embellies from this gorgeous line.

For purple color I used TA chalk mists – Strawberry Shortcake and Cornflower – mix of these colors made a stunning hue perfectly matched to purple from Vintage Vogue.

This way I got the colors that I used to colorize Mistables papers, and embellies: Mistables Fuzzy StickersJournal Tags and Mistables Fabric Flower.

I used also Mistables Misting Mask to cover frame edges. I don’t want to color all frame with one hue, so I used the same mix of glimmers and chalks mists and mask – this way I made soft and delicate frame.

So, I hope that you are not affraid mists like me in past? Spray some Mistables papers today!

Scrap With Your Stash!

Hello Pink Paislee fans! Karola here with another layout! I bet that most of us have in plenty of leftovers in our stash from Pink Paislee; so why not use them in a creative way? I found some old Pink Paislee collections and I decided to combine it with the brand new Vintage Vogue line. It turns out that this is not as hard as I thought it would be, and additionally I was able to create quite an interesting new combination of colors on the layout! I love the layers and fussy cutting, so I was happy when I found the old papers from which I could use a little bit of fussy cutting technique.

Here is my layout – just a few photos of me and a funny title:

I made a title using printed words and a few letters from Expressions Glitter Alphabets – Licorice. I still have many of these gorgeous letters, and you?

As I mentioned before – I love fussy cutting, so there are so many delicate black swirls and flowers from Bayberry Cottage – Flower Garden paper and a few little flowers cut out from  Queen Bee – 6×6 Paper Pad. I added also flowers from Vintage Vogue! So here we are a few 3d layers of different paper flowers:

Photo matting is made from Starlight – Dazzle paper – it’s looks great with Queen Bee yellow flowers!

I could not resist to use the logo of Vintage Vogue collection – as it turned out a perfect match for my title! In Pink Paislee even the packaging is very inspiring, so you better not pull out! :)

And finally I have for you a few examples of how unexpected color combos can be obtained combining Pink Paislee older collections, let’s see:

Queen Bee + Old School + Cupid + Amber Road

Starlight + Bayberry Cottage + Starlight + Cupid
