Punky Sprouts Giveaway and Layered Album

Welcome to the first day of our blog hop with Punky Sprouts!

I was thrilled to get to work with their Trunk Punky album because I am a huge fan of acrylic in my mini albums! Not only does this album have acrylic, but it also has canvas! Double the love! What is fun about chipboard albums is that you can alter it any way you like!

I love the way the papers and stickers from the Declaration line are so easy to layer on top of each other. They all match perfectly and can be used for any type of summer photos. I used it for our recent trip to the beach!

I love to be able to peek through the album from the cover, so I added another acrylic sheet, for the front right panel. I just cut it to the same size as the original cover piece.

It is so hard to show the layers and acrylic in photographs, so I went ahead and created this short video so you can see the entire album page by page!

There are so many possibilities for teaming these items up with all of Pink Paislee’s collections, and the design team will be here all week with more fabulous projects featuring both Pink Paislee and Punky Sprouts!

Basically Bare Blog Hop {Day 1: Felt & Canvas}

Good morning, everyone! Melissa here to kick off a week of blog hopping with Basically Bare!

Basically Bare manufacturers a wide array of mini albums and embellishments in a variety of alterable mediums including canvas, chipboard, cardboard, and felt. These “bare” items are perfect for teaming up with just about any scrapbooking collection, and today I’ve got a layout to share that pairs up some of Basically Bare’s embellishments with Pink Paislee’s Prairie Hill collection.

Prairie Hill’s earthy tones worked so well with the natural colors of Basically Bare’s canvas and chipboard elements that I opted to not alter or color them in any way, but I did mist the white felt heart with a gray color mist- I love the mottled effect created by the way the felt fibers absorb the color unevenly. It adds just a bit of texture to the page.

Here I sliced off one side of a chipboard piece from Fanciful Frames and backed it with a piece of grid patterned paper from the Prairie Hill 6×6 pack. Cutting one side of the frame flush (my normal paper trimmer had no problem slicing through this chipboard) allowed me to line the frame right up on the edge of the layout, giving a sense of the item “flowing” off the page.

And here you see how well Pink Paislee’s own alterable items- in this case the Wood Shop alphas- work with Basically Bare’s embellishments. Again, I left these letters in their unaltered state to add to the overall light, natural feel of the page.

There are so many possibilities for teaming these items up with all of Pink Paislee’s collections, and the design team will be here all week with more fabulous projects featuring both Pink Paislee and Basically Bare!

Heidi Swapp Art Of Observation Class Giveaway

**Update:  Giveaway now closed. Congratulations to Yeissen Lowe! **

On April 5th (yes that is just 4 days from now..) Heidi Swapp will kick off her brand new Art Of Observation Class in association with Big Picture Classes.  Today we are going to give you a shot at winning a spot in this class for FREE!

Heidi says “I am getting super excited for my newest online class to kick off on April 5th at BigPictureClasses.com! i am part of the ’4Experts’ series (they call me an expert)… it’s called “the Art of Observation“! the class runs 12 weeks and we will be completing a new project each week that will challenge you to look around, and observe in a different way–and inspiring you to ask questions and seek out your answers!

i am especially excited to be teaching using my new ‘memory file‘ concepts… you will be amazed at what these little files can do! (they have even wowed me!) and while each week, the project will be based in a Memory File, you can certainly translate your project to a page or even a mini-book.

That is the best part of Big Picture Classes… is that you are able to do the class at your own pace, and using stuff from YOUR stash to complete the projects! (or…ok… you could buy some new stuff!) Each week, you will receive a clue, then observation assignments and observation techniques… once you have had a couple days to think and observe, you will get the instructions, photos, video tutorials for completing the project!

We’ll have an in-class blog, message board, and a few chats and even a live web-show all included in that class time! it’s going to be an amazing journey, one that promises to change the way you look at your world… and see it in a whole new light… and maybe even the way you perceive the art of documenting, storing and sharing YOUR memories! i hope you will join me!”
