Punky Sprouts Blog Hop {Day 2}

Hello all!  Corrie here and today is Day 2 of the Pink Paislee – Punky Sprouts blog hop!  I am thrilled that I had the chance to work with one of Punky Sprout’s amazing mini albums.  Such fun textures and a great design.  Plus, I used this chance to make a mini album about my oldest daughter.  I have had the idea in my head for awhile and finally have it created!

For this project I used the new Declarations line (LOVE it!) and mixed in pieces of the She Art line.

Inside this album are a variety of materials to create on.

I love how the Declaration line was PERFECT for a album dedicated to her track season.  The colors, the stars, it all works!

BE SURE to leave a comment each day for your chance to win a prize pack, and visit Punky Sprouts to see more creations by their team!

Basically Bare blog hop {Day 5}… and a surprise!

We have a surprise for you today on our last day of the Basically Bare blog hop… a new team member to introduce to you. Please help us welcome Stacey Young to the Pink Paislee design team!

A little bit about Stacey: Hi, my name is Stacey Young and I am totally thrilled to be joining the Pink Paislee team. I am wife of 9 years to Tim and a stay at home mummy to our 3 little boys, Cooper, 5, Kobi, 3 and Mason, 10 months. We live on the sunny Central Coast of Queensland, Australia. Life is pretty busy in the Young household, but in my down time I am truly passionate about scrapbooking and paper crafting. I love to create beautiful layers and textures in my work and I also love to be creative with mix media and colour!!

How did you get started in paper crafting? I have always had a background in Art and Painting. I started scrapbooking 8 years ago. My first page consisted of 3 photos and 3 pieces of ribbon. I became more addicted to the craft as my eldest son was born 5 years ago. I haven’t looked back since and my style has evolved incredibly over the years.

What inspires you to create? First and foremost my 3 adorable boys. Just taking those cute pictures of them gets me creative. I love browsing through blogs and websites, so many amazingly talented papercrafters and artists out there. I really adore looking at products, papers, embellishments and colours to get me in the mood for a project. I will sit and procrastinate over a photo and which products I am going to create with. Though, once I start the process most of the time it comes together quite quickly for me, anywhere between 2 and 3 hours.

Do you prefer layouts, altered projects, cards…or all of the above? I absolutely love to create layouts and tell a story through my art. I love to create scenes within my projects. I love the fact that no two pages are the same, the possibilities are endless. I have in the past 12 months been more creative with off the page altered projects and cardmaking. It is fun to work with a different medium and gets me out of my comfort zone.

How would you describe your style? Perhaps Collage-like. It’s very busy and involves layer upon layer. I love to embellish and white space is pretty much non-exitstant on my pages. I adore colour and lots of it!! I would definately consider myself a Mixed Media artist. I love paint, inks, different types of pastes and fibres, everything gets altered on my creations. I am also inspired by “shabby” at the moment, it’s very beautiful.

A fun fact about you? Before having my family I worked as a receptionist in a four story motel for 6 years. I completed a certificate in Hospitality Accommodation Services. After giving up those early morning starts and shift work I found myself working in the stress free environment of ladies retail. Then my little Cooper came along and being ‘in fashion’ took a back seat to me just being “Mummy”. I wouldn’t change it for the world!

Any other hobbies? I love taking photos and editing them. I will never ever scrap the amount of photos that I have of my boys. I love spending time with my family, going for bike rides, going to the beach, having family outings at the park, playing games and reading books with the boys. It’s just super fun being a Mummy!

What is your favorite Pink Paislee product? Oh definately the Mistable papers. Amazing possibilities with that collection. I am also in love with the new collection Spring Jubilee, so much beautiful colour and sweet motifs.

Stacey created this fun project for the blog hop today! Here is what she said about the project…

“I really enjoyed creating with these fun chipboard and felt pieces.  I tried to use as many as I could within the design of my layout and when paired with the Prairie Hill collection I really loved the end result.”

“Here I covered the Basically Bare Blossoms with coordinating paper from the Prairie Hill collection.  I layered the blossoms and topped it off with a chipboard pop.  I altered the leaves with some Gesso and misting.”

“I really wanted to create a shabby fence like the one in my picture.  I decided to cut up the Bare Basic Gears and transform the chipboard pieces into my fence.  Here I also covered a Fanciful Frame with Prairie Hill paper and used it as a mat for my photo.”

“Lastly, here was my favorite part of my creation.  When I saw the felt clouds, I knew I  had to have those cute little kites jumping out of the sky with them.  I misted the edges of the clouds and run my finger around the edges with a scraping of Gesso.  I misted the whole of one cloud and flipped it over, as I loved the effect it gave from the back view.  I also hand stitched around the edges to make it stand out and to give it a little more texture.  I layered my kites and made 2 of my own, layering the diamond shapes, distressing the edges and adding twine.  I also popped up the edges of the chipboard butterflies to add to the 3D look.”

“So as you can see, there are endless possibilities with teaming up these products.  I hope you have enjoyed our blog hop this week and it’s given you lots of ideas on how to use Basically Bare Alterable items with your Pink Paislee products.  Please visit the Basically Bare blog to see more ideas on how to use their products.  Don’t forget to leave your comment here to be in the running to win this awesome prize pack.”

CHA Winter 2012 Recap

We have to give a huge shout out to our Creative Team Member Melissa Stinson for taking these amazing photos of our booth at the show.  I didn’t even take my camera to the show because I knew she was coming and I knew she would stand in for us as our photographer…love her!  If you want to see even more photos click HERE to visit her blog and see all of her amazing shots.

So we had this gazebo brought in and we had major plans to go crazy with decorating the top and sides with tulle, paper flowers, tissue balls, garland etc. and in the end we ran out of time. It looks pretty good the way it is but it was supposed to be SO MUCH MORE than it actually was. Isn’t it funny how that works out?

The theme was yellow, gold, pink and green and we focused on papers from the Spring Jubilee collection to make butterflies, birds, flowers and inspirational flags that were on all the branches.

Tamara Tripodi made these amazing napkin rings out of paper, mistables ribbon and chipboard.  So fun.

Those hot pink candle sticks came from Hobby Lobby.  Everyone thought I spray painted them but I didn’t.  They are just that cool right out of the store!  Of course we used them to hold our vintage flower frogs and some of Danielle’s cards.  Don’t forget to spot the paper flowers in the vase behind the cards. Those are SO CUTE TOO!

Speaking of Spring Jubilee here is our product collection on display.  We actually changed our display cases for this show to hold pegboard instead of shelving so we could show off the products a little easier.  I love how it turned out.

There is no denying it!  London Market was a huge hit at the show.  Everyone and I do mean everyone….loved it so let’s take a look at some close ups:

Book papers and spool buttons.  Totally amazing designs.

We try to show some of the Ephemera pieces out of the polybag but it is impossible to show all 68 pieces.  Trust me..you will want to get them!  And the chipboard buttons are treated with resist so you can ink them up too!

Indigo Bleu is next up and boy oh boy did we get this one right!  Denim and chambray color palettes are making a comeback and we saw several denim inspired papers on the show floor.  Paired with the cream and punch of yellow you can’t go wrong!  Those shipping tags and chat clouds were a favorite.

What can I say.  I LOVE this collection.  The papers, the chipboard kites, the prize ribbon stickers…it is all too much to take.  So many people loved our “quilt like” patterns in this range.

We can’t even begin to forget about the SHE ART collection from Christy Tomlinson. BOLD.  SASSY.  The papers are amazing in person and that vintage doily mask is probably going to sell out FAST based on the orders we brought home!

We also brought back our wood shop alphabets for this show since they are a staple MUST HAVE item!

More amazing samples scattered around the booth.

Lots of gorgeous layouts on our new gallery wall!  A huge shout out to our friends at PRIMA for making these amazing 12 x 12 scrapbook frames.  They worked perfectly for us and our booth.

We didn’t get photos of our make n take counter or the demo counter from day 1, 2, and 3 but it was a super busy and happening place to be!  Thanks to Trisha for designing and teaching our make n takes for 3 straight days and a Thanks to Christy for taking 2 hours each day to demo her SHE ART techniques in our booth.  Everyone really enjoyed the hands on craft counter in our booth and it is always fun to walk away with a little something from the show!
