Studio Tour Featuring Nancy Damiano

Hi everyone! Nancy here with a tour of one of my favorite spaces in our home. It’s our fourth bedroom and the smallest room in the house. At just 10×11, it is tiny and packed full of my favorite things.

Since the space really needed to be maximized, I had the doors taken off of this closet in order to open up the room.  This also makes getting to things easier . The white shelving is a closet organizer that I bought at Home Depot years ago. This space houses cardstock, tools, punches, adhesives, old magazines, older embellishments by themes (in the black binders) and my Clip it Up. The drawers hold miscellaneous “stuff”, photos and bulky tools.

This is my tool workstation area. I have my sewing machine, cutting tools, computer and printer all along this one wall space.  Underneath I store projects in process, memorabilia, design team collections, and scraps. I have two large  wall shelves (old Making Memories) that hold tags, paint, mists, and basics that never go out of style.

On the other side of the room, I have an Expedit and matching desk from Ikea.  I love the wide work space and all of those cubbies hold all of my newer supplies. The clear trays hold patterned paper by collection and the brown baskets hold all of the coordinating embellishments. The paisley boxes are full of alphabets, adhesives and altered stuff.

My cardstock is stored in these huge galvanized metal bins that I bought at Lowes. I like to keep cardstock out and be able to thumb through so I can find the colors that I’m looking for. I can store a lot of cardstock in a compact space this way. There are a total of 4 bins stored around the room. And last but not least, the most important sign in the room – a reminder to keep calm!  This is my “view” when I scrap and it really does help me to remember to take things one at a time.

Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting one of my favorite spaces!

Studio Tour Featuring: Rebecca Cross

Hello Everyone!

After months of showing off the craft studio spaces for our creative team members here at Pink Paislee I thought it might be a good time to show off my own studio space. Originally my space was going to be my office and my scrap studio but as it turns out I ended up moving my office closer to another one of my employees since she and I were always looking over each other’s shoulders anyhow.

So..this room is completely dedicated to paper crafting, making samples, mocking up products when needed, and cutting and prepping papers and kits for events.  It is never as clean as it looks in these photos!  The photos are not the greatest so forgive me…

When you enter the room this is what you see.  There isn’t actually a door into this room because we built it off of the main room in our basement / office area.  The walls are a soft antique / vintage pink of course.

This is an old wooden Flat File that I recently purchased on CraigsList and sanded and repainted.  It has 48″ wide drawers on the bottom that I can load up with pre-production samples, press sheets, other product proofs, and even craft projects in the works.

The really great thing about this piece is that my printer trays fit in here perfectly.  I didn’t even plan it; I mean seriously I got lucky on this one.  So of course I filled it with all of my little pieces of bits and baubles (the ones that are open and out of their packs that is…) because of course there is more.

These 6 top drawers are about 1″ in height so they work great for ink pads too!  If you are interested in seeing the before pictures of this wooden flat file cabinet feel free to CLICK HERE to visit my original blog post.

This mirror hangs above a desktop that is built into the alcove; for some reason I just love the shape and finish on the frame.

This tall “hutch” cabinet which was probably built to be placed in a kitchen is what I use to hold my baskets of “stuff.”  I also store my misting sprays, paints, brushes, papers and small jars here.  The doors underneath open to shelves where I keep my albums.  The drawers in the center hold adhesive, ribbon, tools, and other odds and ends.

Just some of my papers!

This large frame with chicken wire is on the wall opposite my mirror.  When you walk into the room it is on your right.  I use it to show off recent layouts.  The file folder racks beside the frame hold recent magazines for inspiration and ideas.

More About Rebecca

What is the one word that describes your scrapbook style and why? I would say my style is layered.  I very rarely have white space and I like to add a lot of alphabets for titles and journal strips to tell the story since I don’t do a lot of handwriting.

What inspires you to get creative? Believe it or not I am usually inspired by products which is why I decided to launch a manufacturing company in the first place. I get excited about all the pretty products and patterns and I love adding those items to my scrapbook layouts.

What is your favorite Pink Paislee product right now? Right now it is the Mistables paper because I can make it my own and get a little artsy with blending colors.  It is so easy to use and honestly when I hear people say they don’t like to mist on their pages I know it is because they have yet to use our Mistables papers.

What is something you consider a guilty pleasure? Mr.Pibb.  I am addicted and really should remove this sugar filled can of goodness from my daily routine before it kills me ;-)

What is playing on your ipod? Everything from Eminem to Coldplay but lately I have been replaying J Lo’s “On The Floor” over and over again.

What is the one thing no one would know about you? I don’t like seafood.  Never touch it; and it could have something to do with the fact that I am afraid of the open ocean and shark attacks.

Name one thing that is on your bucket list? A Hawaiian Vacation so I can see the spot where my grandmother’s ashes were released by my grandfather.

That wraps it up!  I hope you enjoyed my space!

Studio Tour {Featuring Michelle Lanning}

Good Afternoon Bloggers!  We have another scrapbook studio to show you today.  Michelle Lanning recently joined our design team and we are thrilled to be able to show off her space to everyone today!  But first….lets get to know more about Michelle:

In Michelle’s Own Words

What is the one word that describes your scrapbook style and why? Colorful with lots of layers.  Not sure if that is a style, but it is what I favor while scrapbooking.

What inspires you to get creative? Photos, definitely.  But beautiful product doesn’t hurt either.

What is your favorite Pink Paislee product right now? I know it’s new, but the Mistables Collection is so fun and the possibilities are endless, I love that!

What is something you consider a guilty pleasure? Reality TV.  I love it all!

What is playing on your ipod? Katy Perry, Adele, Justin Bieber (I know) – just a mixture of many genres.

What is the one thing no one would know about you? Hmm, I would say, my obsession with gymnastics.  It all started with Mary Lou Retton  :-)

Name one thing that is on your “bucket list” for the future? Travel to Europe.

About Michelle’s Space:

Hello!  I am happy to show you bits and pieces of my scrap space during this studio tour.  Now I say bits and pieces because my scrap space is in a very small, but long closet.  It runs under the stairs so there is plenty of storage, but doesn’t make for much wiggle room.  But, I love that I can call any space my craft space!  So here it is.

So the first thing you see (when the door is open), is my punch collection.  I have them placed in this old shoe organizer that used to be at our old house.  It works perfectly.  I can easily lean back in my chair and grab my punches.  I placed the ones I use most closest to me and I placed the punch shape on the outside so I can see what is available to use.

It was no easy task to get this desk in this space; but we did it!  This is my scrap desk, and it is never this clean!  Directly to the left of this I have a mini-shelf that I have utilized as extra storage.

I have learned that the best way to make the most of my tight space is to stay organized, and I try!  The top shelf has an embellishment box, a white magazine box that holds some three dimensional adhesive sheets.  Then I have my to cropper hoppers full with pattern paper.  They are organized alphabetically.  All of these papers are not from any Design Teams, those are all stored separately.

The middle row has baby wipes, a box for rub-ons, and misc. stuff.

That bottom row has my journaling spots (metal holder), Pink Paislee Embellishments and Stickers.

Sorry for the grainy photos the lighting is not the best!

Now to the left of that I have a very narrow space where I have stacked some clear containers to hold some stamps, flowers, etc.

That third drawer has all my cardstock scraps.  I recently downsized this and I love it!  I don’t keep any pattern paper scraps, so this is controllable for me.
This top basket has all my go to items.

Now underneath my desk I used even more storage space.  All those containers have embellishments for holidays, seasons, etc. It has been much easier for me to find them.  To the left, the polka dot drawer (there are actually 2), holds all my extra adhesive, and some misc. scrap goodies.

To the right of my desk, I have an expidit bookcase.  I love it!  It holda all kinds of scrap items, but my room is too narrow to show you:)  My daughter also has her own little space to scrap with mom.  The top holds many things, and of course all my alphabet stickers.

One thing that I love about my tiny space is the built in shelves.  I use them all.  Here is a small piece if the shelves.  Some magazines and the binders hold stamps.  To the left is all my jars of ribbon. And the right has more Design Team storage stuff.

So there it is, (well some of it at least.) It may not be big, but it suits my needs perfectly.  I hope this gave you some ideas of how to store your items if you also have a small space.

Thanks for stopping in!  To learn more about Michelle be sure to head over to her BLOG HERE.

Studio Tour Featuring Karen Grunberg

We have a little scrapbook crush on our design team member Karen Grunberg.  It’s simple really; she can work the white space like nobody else!  (although she is quickly becoming a fabulous mixed media artist as well!)

And….she also totally covets and adores alphabets as much as we do.  The minute we saw her work we knew she would be a great addition to our team!  So finally….we get to take a peek into her studio space to see where she “creates” all of those amazing layouts and mini albums.

about karen’s space:

My scrap space is part of our living room and kitchen. It’s the room where I work, the kids play, we eat, and where we entertain guests. So most of my scrap stuff is hidden away nicely so that it doesn’t look like a huge mess when we have visitors over.

Almost everything I own is stored in two Expedit shelves from IKEA. One’s a 5×5 and the other is a 2×4. Here’s the big one:

The black baskets are also from IKEA and they store my embellishments which are sorted by color. The two little baskets have fabric in them and I store my albums on top of the shelf. My albums are sorted by person and year. For example, the black ones are of my older son David, the brown ones are of my younger son Nathaniel, etc.

The drawers sort my tools, beads, and small vintage items. Most of them are filled to the brim. Here’s the one with Distress Inks and Copic Markers:

I store my paper in a metal container I got from Costco a while ago. My papers are also sorted by color. On top of the drawers are some current long-term projects I am working on and my moleskine notebooks.

To the right, is my desk. While it’s crazy messy during a project, I tend to clean it between layouts. Since I stitch on all my layouts, my sewing machine is always on my desk, plugged in, and ready to go. Next to it are two baskets I use for the stamping in my daily art journaling. The bright yellow basket next to those is my “favorites” basket and more on that later. The little drawers next to that store my bobbins and some inspiration items like a bird’s nest. Next to that is two containers with my journaling stamp with ink and thread. And then it’s lots of pens, water, and my adhesives. Everything on my desk is items I use on every single layout (or mixed media project.)

My favorites basket is something I came up with last year. It stores all the items I bought because I wanted to use but have forgotten about. Now I put them in this basket and next time I want to add “one more thing” to my page, I look in my favorites basket first.

The basket also stores a smaller container with smaller items so they don’t get lost.

To the right of my desk is the second Expedit. This one has my alphas, fabric, stamps, and more thread, etc. On top of this one are the albums I am currently adding to and the basket on top holds the layouts I just finished. Once I complete them, they sit in the basket until I photograph them and then they go in one of the albums below. Once the album is full, I put it on top of the big Expedit and put a new one here. This shelf also has some current projects and inspirational pieces.

Since I use punches on every layout, I moved all my punches to the drawers next to my desk so they would be easily accessible. I know that looks like a lot of punches (and it is) but I use several punches on each page. This was another lesson I learned last year. Have the items you use most on your desk or very easily accessible.

And finally, I wanted you to know that while I cleaned it up for the photos, my desk is usually way way messier than this and I didn’t want you to think real life looks anything like these shots. So here’s a photo I took while I was in the middle of making my weekly art journal page.

Nothing wrong with a mess. It means I’m creating.

Thank you for letting me share my space with you. It’s not much but I do love it and it works for me. During the day, I love scrapping while my kids play in the same room with me and, at night, I love scrapping while I watch TV so having it in the big room we all live in works well for me.

more about karen

What is the one word that describes your scrapbook style and why?

I don’t know that there’s a word that you can use to describe my style. If I had to use one word, I would pick “meaningful.” I know that “clean” is probably what most others would pick but, for me, the most important part of the layout is the story and a lot of the design choices I make are related to that priority. For example, I tend to favor long titles because it’s a great way to summarize the main point of my journaling and I figure that even if you only read my title, you’d still know why I made this page. I also favor multiple, series photos. This, too, is my way of enhancing the story by demonstrating it using sequential photos to give you the feeling of motion. You can almost see the story playing out on my page. And, most obviously, I hand-journal on every page.

What inspires you to get creative?

My kids. Watching them, taking pictures of them and living life with them. They are the source of most of my stories and pages.

What is your favorite Pink Paislee product right now?

This question is not fair!! I really love every Pink Paislee product I have. If I have to pick one, as an alphabet-lover, I will have to say all the alphas in all the lines.

What is something you consider a guilty pleasure?

My coffee. I drink this weird mix that most people would probably hate but I love it.

What is playing on your ipod?

Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Jewel and Glee.

What is the one thing no one would know about you?

I am introverted. I talk a lot so people tend to assume I am extroverted.

Name one thing that is on your “bucket list” for the future?

Going to Antarctica. It’s going to happen some day!

Studio Tour Featuring Piradee Talvanna

It’s time for another Studio Tour!  If you are not familiar with the studio tours on our blog let me just give you a quick summary of what you will find!  Every month we take a peek into the “creative space” of one of our creative team members.  These are the people who inspire us with their amazing paper creations, they are the ones who take time to “create something” almost everyday and they are the ones we consider a part of our family!  We just love seeing where they create and we know you enjoy it too!

This week we are hyper-spacing all the way to Singapore to see how Piradee has “set up her space.”

Hi Everyone, a big welcome to my little space here in Singapore.  Since relocating here to Singapore with my dearest hubby almost 3 years ago, we opted to get a one-bedroom apartment in the heart of the city (which is also conveniently located next door to my LSS); where I’ve pretty much taken over this corner of our living room.

Piradee’s Space

This is pretty much where you’ll find me most of the time, sitting there and playing with all the amazing products, while hubby dearest watches from the couch nearby (and every now and then he would come over to help a bit or provide his two cents).  And as you can see below, I’ve pretty kept all the items that I use most of the time nearby – the glue dots are organized on a jewelry holder that I found, I’ve got a smaller container on the stand where I keep all my foam dots (which I use tons of) and also next to it – there’s my garden of trinket pins.

And not too far away from my reach, is my stash of must haves!!!

Although there’s stacks of paper organized nearby the desk, there’s also tons more in our little storage room (or now know as MY scrappy closet, which is actually a bomb shelter located behind the wall from my desk).  Initially we shared this space, where dearest hubby also kept his books but my stuff slowly crept over into his area (and not really sure where his books went – oops).

I’ve also created this little booklet to help me keep track of all the supplies (from mist, ink, embossing powders, stamps to punches).  This way, I’ll know what I have already (and hopefully not buy it again) and also these color swatches comes in super handy when trying to figure out which color to use.

And with that, hopefully you like my little area where all the creativity happens around here.

The Inside Scoop On Piradee:

What is the one word that describes your scrapbook style and why?

My one word would be “Clean”- with every project that I do the lines need to be straight, the mist needs to be sprayed just in the right space and amount and edges/colors need to be crisp.

What inspires you to get creative?

Pretty much everything around me inspires me.  From the gorgeous scrapping products, magazines, online galleries to even a bad meeting at work (thinking of all the journaling details that I want to record); but for the most part – it’s the amazing products that gets my creative juice flowing and most of the time I end up creating layouts/projects before I know what pictures to use.

What is your favorite Pink Paislee product right now?

At the moment, I’m holding on to the Daily Junque Mini Notes & Labels.  I just love this pack of die cuts, especially those number tags (oooooh, I have tons of ideas racing through my mind at the moment).

What is something you consider a guilty pleasure?

Drinking wine and scrapping.

What is playing on your ipod?

It would be Taylor Swift “Love Story” – I’m so in love with the song and also yes, that gorgeous guy in her music video too (can I say that?)

What is the one thing no one would know about you?

Not really a big fan of chocolate.

Name one thing that is on your “bucket list” for the future?

To explore South America – thinking maybe Peru or Argentina?

Fun HUH? Wan’t to learn more about Piradee?  Be sure to check out her blog HERE. Thanks for taking the tour with us!
