Studio Tour Featuring Carole Janson

Our Studio Tours are back and this year we will be showing off the scrap spaces from the newest members of our Design Team!  Right now we are going to take a look into the Studio Space that is occupied by Carole Janson.  At first glance it looks like a complete scrapbook store!  I am pretty sure I could camp out here for  a while just to admire all of the products she has on display.  One of the first things I noticed as I looked into this space was how fun it is that  Carole has infused so much color into her “white space.”  We also love those custom shelves.

About Carole’s Studio:

I have waited so long to get a space just for me, and I finally have it, I have been in my Scraproom for about a year now and I absolutely love it, it is my little hideaway.

This is a photo of my scraproom just before I unpacked all my stash, that was the best day.

Here it is now full lol !! I am still pitching myself, this is my work station well that is what Mike calls it, I have everything open, because I love to see everything, and I find I work better that way. I have an air conditioner, intercom, phone, TV on either side of the desk, and of course internet yipee, and yes it is all from a Shed, I get 1/4 of this huge shed that now occupies our backyard, Mike (Hubby) was so wonderful, he has done so much work on this for me.

I had my gorgeous work station and my paper shelves made by a local cabinet maker which I absolutely love.

My ceiling is really really high in my scraproom, so there is plenty of air and light, just love it. As you can see plenty of space to put all my boxes and projects.

My desk has two sides to it with the same things such as TV’s, power and lighting and internet, there is also enough room in my scraproom for a small table in the middle if needed.

Now here you can see my wonderful, wonderful paper shelves I just love them they are unreal, couldn’t ask for anything better, and just above the shelves is my Peg board which holds all my products, and I love it because I can see everything I own, and what I need when making a project.

I love my cake stand it holds all my flowers, buttons and brads, just too cute, and because the tins have a magnetic back, they hold really well onto the cake stand.

I also have a shelve/ribbon holder which is amazing and holds all my stamps, paints ribbons and some of my flowers.

Mike also tinted my windows to stop fading of my products and projects which was a wonderful idea.

Well I hope you liked checking out my Scraproom, I am definitely loving it!

Let’s Get To Know Carole:

What is the one word that describes your scrapbook style and why? Dimensional – Because nothing I create is flat, I love to create something that you want to touch, and stands out with plenty of layers.

What inspires you to get creative? New Products for sure, new pattern papers, embellishments, they are just so beautiful I can’t wait to get scrapping and just have fun.

What is your favorite Pink Paislee product right now? I am loving the Pattern Papers.  They are just so beautiful and they give me so many options to be creative, but I would also have to say all the new embellishments are just stunning, so to be honest I can’t just pick one product, I find Pink Paislee is always so very different that’s what I love the most.

What is something you consider a guilty pleasure? Eating a block of chocolate while scrapping as long as possible !!

What is playing on your ipod? Pink, Gwen Steffani and Michael Jackson.

What is the one thing no one would know about you? I get really really nervous on airplanes, but I still fly.

Name one thing that is on your “bucket list” for the future? I would love to run a Marathon (maybe one day) still in training.

The Latest Layout From Carole:

Thanks Carole for giving us a peek into your creative space and for sharing a little insight into you as a designer.  If you want to learn more about Carole we definitely want you to swing by her blog to see more of her fabulous paper creations!

Studio Tour Featuring Stacey Michaud

We have arrived at our last Studio Tour of the year.  Hopefully we can continue to bring you peeks into the creative spaces of our 2011 team but I can tell you that most of them HATE this feature of our blog.  Most of them are a little bit shy about showing off their spaces.  I for one never grow tired of seeing where other people spend their time crafting and scrapping!  Stacey Michaud’s space is no exception.  Every time I see one of those Ikea shelves I wish I had one for myself!

So let’s get to know more about Stacey and take a peek into her newly organized and freshly moved into room!

About Stacey’s Space:

Up until September, my space was under renovation with one of the walls removed and the plumbing exposed.  I was literally scrapping out of boxes.  We are finally settled and I am in the process of decorating.

My space also serves as the office in the house.  The kids do homework and crafts at the desk.  It is big enough for more than one person to be working at a time.

I house my supplies using the large open shelf as well as the scrapbooking cubes.  Each of the sturdy boxes from Ikea holds a different type of supply like bling or adhesive.  I have sorted my embellishments by color and each color goes into a small green box.

I store most of my Pink Paislee goodies in the white cubes, being sure to save drawers for my kid’s art supplies and small games.

Papers are sorted by collection (I have every collection ever made!) and My Pink Paislee alphabets and Artisan Elements go into a drawer.  To stay organized, I use large, 2 gallon Ziploc bags to hold the embellishments to match a given collection.  When I want to scrap, I grab the coordinating papers and then the bag with the goodies.  It makes it easy and efficient.

Since it is a family space and is off of my kitchen, it needs to be neat and attractive.  I use little jars for my buttons and lots of baskets to hold pens and mists.

Getting To Know Stacey:

Scrapbook Style – I always have the hardest time with this question as my style shifts according to the products and themes I am working with.  I love to hand cut patterns and images from paper and create something inventive.  My pages typically have more than one photo, dimension and handwritten journaling.  Most of my lines are linear with a bit of a twist.

Inspiration –  My biggest inspiration comes from the products I am working with.  Rub-on phrase, journaling spots or sticker sheets trigger ideas.  Every idea turns into a story and I draw inspiration from finding the best way to share that tale.  I tend to stick with a theme when choosing all of my other materials.

Favorite Product – I couldn’t live without patterned paper.  Truly, you can create borders, flowers, and embellishment using a single sheet of paper.  I also adore journaling spots, although I rarely write on them.  They make great mats for photos.  Every project feels finished with a piece of ribbon or twine!

One Wish- I wish I didn’t worry as much as I do.  It makes me uptight and when I am in an anxious stint, I have no patience.

Favorite Movie – Ghost.  I think I am a romantic at heart.

Guilty Pleasure – Reality TV.  I record shows like America’s Next Top Model, Project Runway and Top Chef.

Favorite Memory – I was married outside on the grounds of a historic barn.  The second I walked out of the barn doors and saw Steve at the end of the aisle, everything was quiet and clear.  It was a powerful moment.  That moment in time resulted in all of my other beautiful gifts in life, including our two amazing children!

One Fear – I have the most irrational fear of heights. The back of my knees start to tingle and go numb when I am up on the top of my kid’s playscape fort. I won’t be skydiving at time soon.

First Job – I was the donut-finisher at Dunkin’ Donuts.  I woke up for the 5:00 a.m. shift to frost and fill the donuts.

Music – I love music that is moody and moves me in some direction.  Alternative rock is my favorite.

Typical Day – The alarm goes off at 5:30 and the mad rush begins.  I get myself and the kids ready for school and work.  My husband leaves by 7:00 a.m. so I am on my own. After two drop-offs, I start teaching at 8:15 and go, go, go all day until 3:30.  Errands take place after school, but I try to be home by 4:30 so I can enjoy some family time.  I make dinner most nights using easy, but tasty recipes.  We eat dinner as a family at our dining room table and catch up for the day.  We get the kids ready for bed and end the night with stories and cuddles.  Then the scrapping begins and goes from 8:30-midnight.  I don’t get that much sleep, although I think I need it to maintain that pace.

Signature Piece of Clothing –My denim jacket.  It goes with everything!

Stacey……I think your wedding sounds amazing!  I can see why it is one of your favorite memories.  Thank you for sharing your space with us this week…and good luck designing for the Teresa Collins team next year!  You deserve it!!!

Studio Tour Featuring Lisa Cole

This week we are going to take a tour of the studio space that is occupied by our Video Host Lisa Cole!  This room is so amazingly organized and calming.  I think it would be fun to spend a day here!  I love the colors in her room as well as her clean and uncluttered style.

About Lisa’s Space

This is the view of my scraproom as I enter. I made a purposeful decision to decorate it with bold colors, and even though I’m not finished yet, I feel like I have a good start :) I found these flocked draperies and built around them, adding fuschia and lime green to compliment the black. I found this cute little chair at Ikea and even put it together by myself!

I purchased some Expedit shelving, also at Ikea, and it stores most everything I have and use while I scrap. I’m a “stuffer”, so adding the doors and drawers was very important to me – I love to just quickly pick up and stuff things away, and this makes it easy for me to start fresh. I mixed some natural baskets from Ikea and bright fabric bins from Target. I have bins that hold all of my alphabets, stamps, inks, punches; and behind some of the doors are my Cuttlebug and accessories, a dedicated section of varied adhesives; and drawers that are dedicated to miscellaneous “bling”, completed cards to send when I need them, acrylic stamping blocks in different sizes, and other little doo-dads.

Also purchased from Ikea is this drafting table that I use as my workspace. I love that it can vary in height, it has sawhorse styled legs that have storage, and it’s plenty big for me to spread out all of my goodies to create.

This is one of my bins dedicated *especially* for Pink Paislee goodness!

This is a view behind some doors of the Expedit where I store my stamps, inks, mists, etc.

This bin is dedicated to punches – I love that whenever I need them, I can just pull the bin over to the table and get what I need.

More About Lisa:

Scrapbook Style - I am very linear minded, I love clean lines and hand journaling. I love patterned paper and use it for my main background a lot, I don’t use a lot of cardstock.

Inspiration – I find a lot of inspiration simply from color. I love my magazines for color pop, I’m drawn to displays in stores, and conceive a lot of journaling ideas from song lyrics.

Favorite Product – I love alphas of all sorts – especially Pink Paislee’s Weathered Wood.

One Wish – How simple this sounds, but I honestly wish for world peace. I would love for my daughter and her children to live in a happier world.

Favorite Movie - When I need a good cry? Bridges of Madison County; when I need life inspiration? Shawshank Redemption; when I want to laugh? Pretty Woman.

Guilty Pleasure – Baskin Robbins Peanut Butter & Chocolate scoop on a sugar cone.

Favorite Memory – my Dad whistling all the time

One Fear – the dark!

First Job – I was a First Mate at Long John Silver’s – I came home smelling like fish every day!  But I learned how to make a mean cole slaw, and pour a proper beer, and I was Queen of the drive-through.

Music – Love pop with an urban edge (that’s what my local station calls it!): Katy Perry, Train, Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, Jason DeRulo, John Mayer, Usher, Kings of Leon.

Typical Day – I work at a local court and listen to a lot of stories every day.  It can be tedious, but I love that it’s only 5 minutes from my house and my daughter’s school – my commute is great!  My evenings are consumed with soccer several times a week, but it is a joy to watch my daughter play.  I’m usually creative on the weekend due to my schedule, but I love my down time to enjoy my house and all of my scrapbooking goodies!

Signature Piece of Clothing – My Dooney & Bourke gray and black purse. It goes with everything and is always in style.

Studio Tour: Featuring Tina Albertson

Did you know we have a design team coordinator who works behind the scenes to schedule our design team member activities and keep us all on task?  Yep! Her name is Tina Albertson and today we are going to take a peek into her creative space.  Tina doesn’t get the chance to post many projects here on our blog but we do get the opportunity to show off her designs at trade shows and events and we love having her as a part of our creative team!

About Tina’s Space:

When I first started scrap booking my work space consisted of my dining room table and a book case.   It wasn’t exactly the most ideal place to be creative.  But sometimes you have to work with what you’ve got. Now that my kids are older, I was able to take over their little “playroom” off of our family room.  It isn’t anything grand, maybe the size of a walk in closet but it’s mine!  I managed to fit a lot into my tiny little space.

I have a white craft table where I do most of my work.  My white cabinet has been a lifesaver.  Not only does it hold a TON of supplies, but it also hides all my stuff as well.  Instead of the open book case I once used, I opted for this.  Too bad I didn’t have it when my youngest was crawling.  Then maybe I wouldn’t have glitter paint all over my craft room floor!

On top of my cabinet I keep an old fashioned candy jar to hold all of my ribbon.  I also like to display my mini albums along with some favorite family photos.

The top half of the cabinet holds my mists, stamps, inks, paints, brushes, adhesive, along with some miscellaneous supplies.

The bottom half holds my chipboard, buttons, packaged ribbon, and lots of drawers to hold supplies.

I recently added these shelves, as it was the only space left to utilize!  I like to keep my favorite supplies here, always in sight.  I have a basket with all my punches right above me because I use them on EVERY layout.  Love punches!  I also keep little tin containers to hold favorite embellishments and my pixie sticks.  The other basket holds the latest Pink Paislee releases and some of my other favorite collections (I need a MUCH bigger basket for this!}

I love this art I found on Etsy.  The colors are so vivid and add tons of color to my space without having to paint the walls.  I also keep a Blythe doll from my mom on the shelf.  I can’t believe how popular these have become.  Isn’t she sweet?

The closet that is in my room holds my paper, cardstock, magazines, kits, and totes.  I actually took the door off it’s hinges for easy access.

Right next to my work table is a huge clear rolling cart.  It holds all my Pink Paislee product, rub-ons, letter stickers, paper scraps, and stickers.

I hope my little scrappy space has been an inspiration to those of you who don’t have a lot of room to work with.  It does get quite cramped when I’m working on projects but I make do.  Having a small space also forces you to not over do it when it comes to shopping.  I think that’s the part my husband loves the best.

More About Tina:

Scrapbook Style – I like clean lines with a little bit of messiness.  Is that a style??!

Inspiration – I love looking at on-line galleries.  There is so much inspiration there.  Also when I receive new product I am instantly inspired!

Favorite Product – I would have to say my punches.  They can be used in so many different ways and can add so much to a layout.

One Wish- That my children will always remain safe and healthy.  As some of the girls have said before, my girls are my everything!

Favorite Movie – Breakfast Club

Guilty Pleasure – Starbucks

Favorite Memory – Becoming a mom for the first time.

One Fear – I know this isn’t original but I have a HUGE fear of spiders.  Not little ones but the big ones that make your arm hairs stand straight!

First Job – I used to detassle corn in the summers when I turned 13.  It was hot, itchy, and I was extremely underpaid.  Not to mention tons of spiders!  Perhaps that was when my spider fear began?

Music – I love so many genres of music.  I listen to basically everything but country.  Some of my favorite bands are Black Eyed Peas, Red Hot Chili Peppers, No Doubt, Lady GaGa, and Rihanna.

Typical Day –Wake up at 6:00 AM.  Head straight for the coffee maker.  (I can’t function without it!)  Get the kids up, feed them breakfast and make sure they have everything ready for the school day.  This is the first year I’ve had all 3 kids in school all day.  So I’m not sure what my typical day is yet.  I will add that I love to go to Target but not the grocery store.  Once the kids get off the bus we have a snack, do homework, then get ready for soccer.  Lastly is supper, baths, and bedtime stories.

Signature Piece of Clothing – My silver hoops and American Eagle Artist jeans.

Studio Tour Featuring Danielle Flanders

This week we are getting a very special peek into the creative corner occupied by Danielle Flanders.  In all the years I have worked with Danielle I have never before seen her space so I found it very fun to see where all that crafting genius takes place.  As I looked through these photos one thing I realized is that we probably give our Design Team members TOO MUCH STUFF.  I see that big Pink Paislee box tucked under her chair and think to myself “maybe she doesn’t have anywhere to put it.”

One thing is for sure…she is extremely organized (so are her kids…) and that ribbon drawer looks like it would be fun to just sit and look at!

About Danielle’s Space

I recently set up a desk in our basement, because I didn’t have a place to call my own! I was scrapping in our dining room for a long time and decided it would be nice to be able to have my sewing machine out and ready whenever I wanted to use it. (And then we could actually EAT at our table again too, which is a bonus!)

The 2 large bins next to my desk hold my Pink Paislee products and my Jenni Bowlin products. However, I keep the most recent Pink Paislee lines in a box right under my desk, so I can quick grab what I need!

The desk is set up right when you come down the stairs, and I share the room with my girls’ big toys, like their kitchen, lego table, art easel, etc. They love to hang out with me down there while I’m working. The easel and lego table are behind my chair.I’m lucky enough to have a storage room right next to where my scrap space is, so I have larger things like all my mini books and such stored in there.

On my desk, I have a basket for glues and holes punchers, a cup for pens/scissors, a cup for paintbrushes and a container for my Cuttlebug embossing plates/trimmer. I also leave my sewing machine up on my desk. The keyboard drawer pulls out and that’s where I store my punches for easy access.

I found these large white cubes at AC Moore. Love seeing the pretty colored cardstock! I have a drawer for flowers, ribbons, buttons, brads and bling, alphabets, and stamps and other embellishments. I bought some 12 x 12 Cropper Hoppers to store my patterned papers, rub ons, stickers and transparencies. (The papers are organized by manufacturer.)

Since I had SO many ribbons, I decided to make my own little ribbon wraps. Next to the ribbon, you can see some 12 x 12 clear file folders, those are holding my paper scraps by color.

More About Danielle

Scrapbook Style –  I would say my style is a bit on the simple side, but dimensional at the same time, with girly touches. I tend to be drawn to cleaner pages that draw your eye right to the photos! I love to focus on how to use items creatively or in a unique way also.

Inspiration – I find inspiration everywhere! A particular color palette, an ad in a magazine, techniques to play around with, new scrapbooking products, home decor and current styles/textiles all have an impact on me!

Favorite Product – My favorite Pink Paislee product right now would have to be the Artisan Swirls. They are so beautiful and dimensional. I love that you can customize them to your project by painting, misting them, etc. So much fun to work with and such a unique product!

One Wish- I hope that my girls will stay happy and healthy forever. They mean the world to me, and I don’t know what I’d do if anything happened to one of them.

Favorite Movie – I love anything with Leonardo DiCaprio in it, but I think my all-time favorite was Titanic.

Guilty Pleasure – Raisinettes or Reese Peanut Butter Cups

Favorite Memory – Meeting my girls when they were born.

One Fear – Snakes.

First Job – My first job was when I was 16. I bussed tables at a restaurant called Elk Creek Steakhouse about 1 mile from our house. The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally was going on when I started and on my first night, I spilled water on a scary looking motorcyclist’s lap while refilling his glass. I was so embarrassed!

Music – Love pop with an urban edge (that’s what my local station calls it!): Katy Perry, Train, Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, Jason DeRulo, John Mayer, Usher, Kings of Leon.

Typical Day – In the summer it’s very different than the school year, we don’t really have a routine! During the school year, I wake up at 7:30, get my daughter dressed, fed and off to school, then drink my coffee and check into my scrapbooking sites on-line while I wake up. The rest of the day usually involves cleaning, making beds, dishes, laundry, and spending time with my youngest daughter. Sometimes I will sneak some scrapbooking in, but normally I wait until they go to bed to create – when it’s nice and quiet. They go to bed at 8 pm and I usually stay up until 11 or 12! I’m most definitely a night owl!

Signature Piece of Clothing – My favorite comfy Vigoss jeans and a hoodie, because most of the year here in New York, it’s chilly!
