Top Trends {Ombre Done Bright}

Hi everyone! Jess here today to wrap up our foray into the land of ombre. When I got this assignment there was really no question that I would be using some of the Mistables line to experiment with the ombre technique.  The Mistables Collection is absolutely perfect for experimenting with color and the variation of its intensity.  Many times you see the ombre look done in soft colors… beachy looks or romantic fades.  But I wanted to do something bright and vibrant so I chose to use intense blue ink.

My friends recently tied the knot with a color palette of many shades of blue.  I blended several types of ink on this Mistables background starting at the lower corner and lightening towards the center and did the same in a smaller area at the top right for balance.  The background paper really takes on life when we add color like this!

I brought out the shades of blue in various places around my page: the dark blue on the Mistables tag, lighter blue on the “&”, dark blue edged ruffled trim, and stitching too.

The trail of butterflies follows the ombre pattern as well.  I started them plain white in the center of the page and they increase in intensity towards the top.

If we haven’t convinced you this week that ombre is both fun and beautiful I don’t know what will!  I just love how all the projects have been very different from each other but make use of the same technique! With the Mistables line you can easily experiment and make this look work for you too!

Top Trends {Create Shades Of Color}

Hello, everyone!  Renata Moni here. This week we are sharing projects inspired by the Ombre Trend.  In case you missed it, Ombre is the term for color shades or tones of color.  These images below show you how this trend is being used in the fashion and beauty industry today!

After looking at those Ombre coler shaded nails, I decided to play with various shades, and I felt inspired by how colors were used there! So I started using some inks….all of them in pink, but in different shades.

Have you played with the Mistables papers by Pink Paislee? They are amazing and so versatile and you can mist or ink the papers until you get the perfect of the papers you are using! Perfect,right?

To do the Ombre technique using diferent inks I started by misting the background of my paper using a light pink glimmer mist. I started by applying mist to just the edges of the Mistables paper spreading to the center and getting dark to the upper side.

You can see that the upper side is darker. I loved this effect and the shades I got here.  When I combined my base paper with the wonderful London Market and Spring Jubilee collections,the result was very elegant! Here are some detail photos:

And here is a full shot of the project I made.  Hope you like it!

Top Trends {Ombre With Bold Colors}

Hi there..

Mahlin here today with my thoughts on the Ombre trend.  You´ve seen Janna and Piradee takes on Ombre earlier this week, so I bet you already have a pretty good sense of how awesome the Mistables collection is to make this trend come to life in your scrapbooking.

As I have such a crush on bold colors, I tend to play alot with mistables and paint of all sorts, and the thing I always try to master is the graduation of it all, since it tends to get too heavy on the design if I use all bold colors. Blending the color, having it fade in or out, or graduating it in and out is such a beautiful effect.

On my layout, I used strong warm orange, letting it pour out into a soft yellow, the colors graduating within the neighboring color. I also wanted to use some hot pink, so I used a Mistables paper as a background, letting the mist air dry in between layers of misting, also I held the bottle from different angles and distances to make the hot pink graduate in the background.  Then I added some gesso for more white areas.

Here is a closer look on the graduation of the orange -> yellow on my flowers. I think I used about 5 different brands of mist to get different shades of these colors.

Adding some layering on top, everything doesn´t have to be OMBRE to be trendy, mix it up how you like it.

You should not be afraid to mix up different collections, especially not Pink Paislee, since they go so well together.  I have mixed everything from mistables to Spring Jubilee and London Market. Play with it and have fun!

Top Trends {Experimenting With Ombre}

Hi Everyone, Piradee here today to share my take on this latest trend…Ombre.   When I first read the assignment details for this week, I was at a lost as to how I would incorporate this trend into my project.  I love the idea of the shades of colors and also how they gradually get lighter and lighter, but how to do this on a layout was the biggest question for me…

But then with some of the Color Magic pattern papers from Heidi Swapp and a bottle of the distress stains in hand, I started experimenting with how to create that ombre look.  I started by applying multiple coats of distress stain to get the dark color shade, then followed by other lighter coats until the last piece – where I first sprayed some water on the Color Magic pattern paper before lightly (as lightly as I could) adding the distress stain.

Then I used the gorgeous Prairie Hill collection to complete the layout. I absolutely adore the vintage color tones in this collection and also not the mention the fun embellishments – aren’t those tags just too cute!

And I think one of my favorite embellishment from this collection is the sticker pack – loving all things with clouds, suns and cameras at the moment. LOL

Thanks everyone for stopping by and we can’t wait to see how you incorporate the fun OMBRE trend in your projects.

Top Trends {Ombre}

Hello everyone, and welcome to a brand new week filled with lots of inspiration and gorgeous projects!

This week, we will show you creations that have been influenced by the “Ombre trend”. Ombre is a French word meaning “shadow” or “varying shades of a tone”, like a graduation in color.

Most of the time this technique is used in a monochromatic way with the color fading out to one side, just like watercolor. You can also add neutrals like grey or vanilla to add a soft and elegant look. This trend is being seen in fashion and in home decor right now, so we wanted to show you how you can adapt this trend to your scrapbooking projects.

I combined Pink Paislee´s London Market, Spring Jubilee, Vintage Vogue and Nantucket collections with products from the Mistables series. You can use inks and sprays to color the Mistables or, like I did, water crayons!

It is so much fun to see the “hidden” pattern appear on the 12″ x 12″ paper when adding color to it. You can also create more than one layer of color. I have blended the color to fade off to one side, starting on the left of the paper and lessening the saturation of color as I went to the right.

You can also leave the Mistables products as they are, like I did with the muslin flower. I like the elegance the linen brings to the project.

We are really loving this beautiful trend and hope you will try it out with us this week. If you do, please share a link to your project with us!
