Scrap With Your Stash!

Hello Pink Paislee fans! Karola here with another layout! I bet that most of us have in plenty of leftovers in our stash from Pink Paislee; so why not use them in a creative way? I found some old Pink Paislee collections and I decided to combine it with the brand new Vintage Vogue line. It turns out that this is not as hard as I thought it would be, and additionally I was able to create quite an interesting new combination of colors on the layout! I love the layers and fussy cutting, so I was happy when I found the old papers from which I could use a little bit of fussy cutting technique.

Here is my layout – just a few photos of me and a funny title:

I made a title using printed words and a few letters from Expressions Glitter Alphabets – Licorice. I still have many of these gorgeous letters, and you?

As I mentioned before – I love fussy cutting, so there are so many delicate black swirls and flowers from Bayberry Cottage – Flower Garden paper and a few little flowers cut out from  Queen Bee – 6×6 Paper Pad. I added also flowers from Vintage Vogue! So here we are a few 3d layers of different paper flowers:

Photo matting is made from Starlight – Dazzle paper – it’s looks great with Queen Bee yellow flowers!

I could not resist to use the logo of Vintage Vogue collection – as it turned out a perfect match for my title! In Pink Paislee even the packaging is very inspiring, so you better not pull out! :)

And finally I have for you a few examples of how unexpected color combos can be obtained combining Pink Paislee older collections, let’s see:

Queen Bee + Old School + Cupid + Amber Road

Starlight + Bayberry Cottage + Starlight + Cupid

Tuesday Techniques – Paper Pleating

Hello everyone!  It is Tuesday, and the means that today on the blog I have a project to show you that focuses on a technique.  I chose paper pleating.  It is not a hard technique, and it will add a lot of texture to your project.  Perfect for those of you who don’t like your cards and layouts flat.  ;)

I made a card set showing a couple of different ways to work this into a project.

For my first card, I cut out a strip of green patterned paper.  The paper you are using will have to be longer than the finished size.  I started out with an 8″ long paper strip to use on a 5″ long panel, but a good rule of thumb is to start with about twice the length of the actual finished size.  Better to have a little too much than not enough.

I used large scallop decorative scissors to dress up the top edge of the strip.  Then, I folded the paper in an accodian pleat (see image below).

I put some adhesive at the ends of the paper panel and along the bottom.  I placed the ends of the pleated paper strip to the ends of the paper panel.  I pinched the bottom of the pleats to the paper panel so that just the bottom of the strip was flat to the paper.  Then I added some decorative stitching to hold the pleats down.  (If you don’t sew, you can add a little adhesive if you want to get that pinched look at the bottom of the paper strip.)

For the next card, I wanted a round, pleated shape for a sun.

I used a box pleat (see image below) to pleat a 3 1/2 x 12″ yellow patterned paper panel.

I adhered the pleated paper to a 3″ circle that I cut out from scraps, and I used the shape as a guide to cut out the pleated paper circle.  I adhere to pleated paper circle to the card and trimmed off the excess.  I then sew around the edges.  (You can use a little adhesive around the edges if you don’t want to sew it.)

I hope you enjoyed this technique and will be able to try it on an upcoming project.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Monochromatic Monday – Purple

Hello everyone!  Long time, no see.  It has been a while since I have done a blog post on the Pink Paislee blog, and I am glad to be back.  :)

Today is Monochromatic Monday, and I have a layout to share with you.  When deciding on a color for this project, I went back through some of the more recent Monday posts to see what colors everyone had previously chosen.  One color I didn’t see was purple.  I hear quite a lot of people say that they don’t like purple or they have a hard time using it in their projects, but I really love the color.  It is one of my favorites.  Plus, being the mother of two girls, you can find something that is purple in almost any room in my house.  LOL   I went through my Pink Paislee supplies and found purple in three collections:  Hocus Pocus, Bayberry Cottage, and Twilight.  And because purple pairs so well with gray, I snuck in some Parisian Anthology as my neutral.  Gorgeous stuff!

I chose some photos of my daughter, Harper, with our dog, Phoenix.  Every time I look around, I find Harper with one of our dogs, petting, hugging, or giving them kisses.  She is such an affectionate kid.

For the papers, I used Beautiful Butterfly for the background, Skeleton Soiree, Hocus Pocus, and Sunset for the different shades of purple, and Fancy Filigree and Architectural Arch for the neutral accents.  For the embellishments, I used one of the Flower Darlings, a Flip Notes journaling spot, a couple of Punchouts die-cuts, a Cork Button, a Bella Brad, and the Expressions Cushies Alphabet.

I printed my journaling onto patterned paper with my computer and printer, and added some hand stitching details.  For the flower, I layered the brad, button, and cork button, and added a stitch and some adhesive to hold it in place.

I hope that my layout inspires you give the color purple a try.  You just might like it.  ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Sunday Sketch

Welcome on another Sunday Sketch! For today, I decided to prepare my own sketch, I don’t have a lot experience with it, but I hope you like it and made it usable.

I wanted to create a Lo with Bayberry Cottage collection, and when I add on the background this wonderful diecut paper – Porch Swing, immediately in my mind came a vision of a sketch! I used this shape to create a decorative strip, the rest is a proposal to put a few pieces of paper, Press Ons, Punchouts, flowers and cork buttons using Bayberry Cottage and Starlight collections.

Here’s the sketch:

Your interpretation may be very different and depending on whether you use dark colors or pastel and soft – you can create a rich composition or totally light and airy. I hope I can encourage you to have fun with this sketch and this color scheme from Bayberry Cottage and Starlight lines!

Take 5 Friday!

Hi everyone,

It’s Take 5 Friday today at the Pink Paislee blog!   For this layout I used mainly the Queen Bee line with a little splash of Bayberry Cottage.  This is my little Queen. It’s easy to get photographs of her like this because this is her preferred way to dress.  Being 5 years old is so much fun!

The 5 products that I chose to highlight with this project are:

Artisan Elements – Swirls

Bella Brads

Queen Bee Stamps

Bayberry Cottage press ons

Bayberry Cottage punch outs

The Artisan Elements are really unique and fun to work with.  Here on the swirl, I used Glimmer Mist to tint it. The Artisan Element that I used for my “Queen” title is one of the centers from the Artisan Elements frames.  I stamped on it using the “Queen” from the Queen Bee stamp set and Staz On ink.  It was a perfect surface to use clear stamps on. It has just enough cushion that I got a crisp and even image.

The reason I chose the Bayberry Cottage press ons, punch outs, 6×6 paper and Bella Brads was to give a contrasting colour to work with the Queen Bee papers.   I started off with just the brads but then added a punch out, paper behind my photo and a little bit of lace. Just enough colour to pull your eye around the layout.

We would just love to see you show off yourfavourite Pink Paislee products so we encourage you to upload your work to the LivePink gallery.  Thank you for stopping by today. Have a wonderful Friday!!
