Creating with the Cuttlebug: Adding Movement to your Layouts.

Hello Pink Paislee fans!

When I received the new Nantucket line by Pink Paislee, I couldn’t wait to “dive” right in (no pun intented!) and scrap some photos of my daughter collecting shells from our trip to the ocean in Maine. The Nantucket line is so gorgeous and timeless. I love that it’s not too “themey” and is versatile enough to be used for anything, not just beach photos. But…I couldn’t resist using these beautiful light and airy papers with the summery pictures from Maine – they were perfect!

To create some movement to the page, I decided to add some swirls with the Cuttlebug embossing machine. First, I punched four white cardstock circles with a 2″ circle punch by Fiskars.

Next, I added them inside the swirls embossing folder and ran them through the machine.

This is such a simple technique to do and the swirls add to the theme of the layout without taking attention away from the photos!

I added a die cut sun shape from the Nantucket – Ephemera over the top of one of the circles, along with some Nantucket Wood Shapes. I wanted to keep the wood color of the shapes, because it reminded me of driftwood found on the beach. But of course, these can be painted or misted as well!

Here you can see I added some twine around the ribbon for added texture. I cut the blue paper around the wave shape to add even more movement to the page.

Supplies used:

Nantucket Crab Cakes paper

Nantucket Clam Chowder paper

Nantucket Jumbo Shrimp paper

Nantucket – Ephemera

Nantucket – Wood Shapes

Other:  Cuttlebug embossing machine- Provo Craft, Cuttlebug A2D’Vine Swirl Embossing Folder, twine – Papertrey Ink, white cardstock, machine stitching, computer for journaling.

Thursday’s Trend – Ribbon Flowers

Since Valentine’s Day is almost here, I decided that I wanted to do a “love” themed page. I combined some of the new Bayberry Cottage line with the 365 Degrees line. I love the reds and greens with the houndstooth pattern!

One trend I have been seeing lately is handmade flowers. I love them. VERY MUCH! Here I’ve made one with the red pleated ribbon, and I’ll show you how! I have also noticed a trend using vellum for titles and journaling lately, so I wanted to try that look on my page. I didn’t use vellum though, just printed right onto the patterned paper. The font is called Edwardian.

Here is how I made the ribbon flower:

That’s it, very easy! One more thing I wanted to share about my page is regarding the houndstooth letters. I was all out of an L, V and E that I needed for the title. So I had to make do with the letters I had left. I cut a T into an L, cut a Y down to make a V and cut an 8 to make an E. Can you tell I REALLY wanted the houndstooth title on my page?!
