Scrap With Your Stash!

Hello Pink Paislee fans! Karola here with another layout! I bet that most of us have in plenty of leftovers in our stash from Pink Paislee; so why not use them in a creative way? I found some old Pink Paislee collections and I decided to combine it with the brand new Vintage Vogue line. It turns out that this is not as hard as I thought it would be, and additionally I was able to create quite an interesting new combination of colors on the layout! I love the layers and fussy cutting, so I was happy when I found the old papers from which I could use a little bit of fussy cutting technique.

Here is my layout – just a few photos of me and a funny title:

I made a title using printed words and a few letters from Expressions Glitter Alphabets – Licorice. I still have many of these gorgeous letters, and you?

As I mentioned before – I love fussy cutting, so there are so many delicate black swirls and flowers from Bayberry Cottage – Flower Garden paper and a few little flowers cut out from  Queen Bee – 6×6 Paper Pad. I added also flowers from Vintage Vogue! So here we are a few 3d layers of different paper flowers:

Photo matting is made from Starlight – Dazzle paper – it’s looks great with Queen Bee yellow flowers!

I could not resist to use the logo of Vintage Vogue collection – as it turned out a perfect match for my title! In Pink Paislee even the packaging is very inspiring, so you better not pull out! :)

And finally I have for you a few examples of how unexpected color combos can be obtained combining Pink Paislee older collections, let’s see:

Queen Bee + Old School + Cupid + Amber Road

Starlight + Bayberry Cottage + Starlight + Cupid

Celebrate Summer Dining With Cassie Box

We have a fun magazine feature to share with our blog readers today.  The latest issue of Romantic Homes magazine (July 2011) features an amazing 4 page spread that is all about outdoor entertaining in a rustic setting.  The great news is they called upon a scrapbook designer to come up with some “table top” decor that would fit a 4th of july theme.  However, they wanted to feature something with non traditional colors and that is where we come in.  Our Starlight paper collection (released last summer) was a perfect fit for their requests and since we live about 1o minutes from this fabulous paper artist (CASSIE BOX is her name) we were able to help her out in a pinch so she could craft these fun pieces overnight.

I actually love how this article turned out!  Cassie created a fun stick garland banner, some fun toothpick toppers and even a pinwheel.  It turned out so darling we almost can’t stand it.  I think this is probably the first time our products have been featured in a NON paper crafting magazine and we have Cassie to thank for it!  Great job Cassie!  We adore it.

That banner dangling between 2 baked pies.  Totally delicious!

Look how adorable these are stuck in those blocks of cheese.  Perfect finger food picks.

Pinwheels inside a folded napkin.  Just too darling!

This fun tablescape is making me hungry and now I am totally ready for summer dining.

Want to visit Cassie’s ETSY site? Then go for it!  Let me tell you she does take requests and she makes the best diaper cakes and banners around.

Stash It! Starlight and Old School

Do you have Pink Paislee products in your stash?  Well get them out and play along with us.  That is what Stash It is all about; getting out the products you purchased in the past and actually putting them to use.

I let the colors and motifs in the photo inspire the products I wanted to use for this layout. I used a photo taken on my first night from my trip to Austin, TX and I loved the red and yellow and the stars of the wall in the background, so I chose to use Old School and Starlight.

I matted the photo on a piece of patterned paper with a subtle pattern because it was a busy photo and I wanted it to pop off the page. I also surrounded it with bracket stickers to further create a focal point for the page, and clustered some embellishments around it to add more interest.

I had fun with various star elements here – papers, stickers, and borders! I definitely repeated that theme here.

It was super fun to mix and match two older lines from my fabulous Pink Paislee stash!!  You should try it too!

Yellow makes me happy…

Happy Monday! Today is my day for Monochromatic Monday, and I’ve been really loving the color yellow, so I chose to mix a few of Pink Paislee’s lines together to create a “Happy-go-Lucky” page. I chose some fun pictures of my girls jumping on our trampoline. We bought one in April and weren’t sure how much they were going to use it, but they love it. As it turns out, they use it almost every day together. I love their expressions when they are jumping! In Photoshop, I chose 4 pictures I liked and put them together on one document to print out on a 4×6″ piece of photo paper.

To create my background, I misted over a Crafter’s Workshop stencil with Candlelight Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels right over the Sweetness – Pretty Lace background paper. It’s a slightly darker yellow, so it adds a nice detail to the page without overpowering the photos. It also adds a place for my journaling!

The sticker letters are from the Old School line and the stamped stars and cork buttons are from the 365 Degrees line. I used some chipboard stars from my stash and wanted to keep them gray, so I sprayed them with Graphite Glimmer Mist to make them a shade darker and pop off of the page a little more.

The star border is from the Starlight line. When I decided to go with yellow, I pulled out all of the yellow things from the lines, then narrowed down what I wanted to use.

I hope you will try a monochromatic page too!

Sunday Sketch

Welcome on another Sunday Sketch! For today, I decided to prepare my own sketch, I don’t have a lot experience with it, but I hope you like it and made it usable.

I wanted to create a Lo with Bayberry Cottage collection, and when I add on the background this wonderful diecut paper – Porch Swing, immediately in my mind came a vision of a sketch! I used this shape to create a decorative strip, the rest is a proposal to put a few pieces of paper, Press Ons, Punchouts, flowers and cork buttons using Bayberry Cottage and Starlight collections.

Here’s the sketch:

Your interpretation may be very different and depending on whether you use dark colors or pastel and soft – you can create a rich composition or totally light and airy. I hope I can encourage you to have fun with this sketch and this color scheme from Bayberry Cottage and Starlight lines!
