Thursday Trends

Hello everyone! Karola here today with a new trend. Oh, no… sorry, my mistake! Today we have a few trends, not one!

Because 2010 slowly comming down, today I would like to recall a few hot trends of current year. So wonderfully made, that the Parisian Anthology collection includes these trends, there are so many things that you can be sure that what you create with it – it will certainly very very trendy! Parisian Anthology was created in collaboration Pink Paislee and The House of Three, and I’ll show you today … House of 3 + 2!

I have created a sort of mini-album and home decor in one. This is a little house, which contains pictures of my family, each family member has a one wall in the house, even our beloved furry friends – a cat named Miki and dog named Chili.

I invite you to a very special tour over my little house with a little reminder of our scrapbooking hot trends:

Butterflies – a lovely motif, suitable for many styles and on many occasions! Parisian Anthology has a wonderful clear stamps, in these stamps you will find the beautiful motifs of butterflies. Do not you have the impression that the butterflies add a lightness to each project?

Doilies – oh, who does not love doilies? I truly love this beautiful motif! Therefore, the Parisian Anthology Lovely Lace paper is my favorite! See how it looks beautifully colored!

Spray inksParisian Anthology is a very unique collection, designed for creative scrappers, which loves create using any media, paints and mists. These papers has a special ink resist designs on the front, so you can coloring them in your favorite way! For some time a very popular and favorite are various spray inks – these are perfect for coloring Parisian Anthology papers. I’ve used the turquoise and yellow color to mix it on the surface of papers, so doilies pattern really highlight!

Text/Script papers – almost every paper in this collection is printed with beautiful handwriting or newsprint motifs - on a white or cream background it looks very fresh and perfectly fits to projects in the style of both  shabby chic, vintage  and contemporary.

Damask – here and there – in my house there are absolutely stunning Artisan Elements and Parisian Anthology Clear Stamps motifs, which I  stamped on the edges of every each wall.

Texture and dimension – have you noticed that our projects each year are becoming more outliers and three-dimensional!? I think that is wonderful when we can create something interesting in several dimensions and with a beautiful textures! You can use the chipboard letters, Artisan Elements, and cushies alphas.

These are just some of the trends we have seen this year, and which can be found in Parisian Anthology collection, or using it – you can try something new and trendy. I’m very curious what will trendy in next year, and you? I’m sure Pink Paislee surprise us with something!

Thursday Trend: Vellum

Good morning! It’s getting closer and closer to Halloween here in the states, so I wanted to create a Halloween card to share with you using one of my favorite trends right now – vellum. Yes, vellum is making a come back! Here I’ve printed out my own saying onto a piece of vellum with my computer.

Here is how I make these titles in Photoshop:

1. Open a new document 8 1/2 x 11″. Make sure the resolution is set to 300 pixels per inch to get a nice clear image. Also set the background as “transparent”.

2. Next, click the TYPE tool. If you can’t see your tools, you need to go to Window and then Tools. Make sure there is a check mark next to tools. You should see the tool palette open up. Select the T.

3. On your document, hold your mouse and drag to open up a new box. Select the font you want and the size. I used “Edwardian” for the script font and “Times New Roman”. It’s fun to mix and match them! Type your saying. Click the check mark at the top right of your screen to accept. I changed the 12:00 to a gray color to mix it up a bit. You can add several of these text boxes and move them around to overlay each other as well, as I did with the 12:00….see how it overlaps the rest of the saying a little bit?

4. When finished, go to Layer, and Flatten Image. This will merge all of your text boxes that you have created and creates it as one image.  Save and print right onto a piece of vellum. Apply to your card with a vellum adhesive. Done!

Pink Paislee supplies used:

‘Twas the night before Christmas {Trend alert}

Are you all frantically trying to get everything finished?? Is the to-do list still a mile long…..are the children hyper with the thought of Santa’s visit tonight? If you answered YES to more than one of these questions, then you need a well deserved break. Go & grab your self something delicious & warm to drink & pull up a chair……I’ll wait……

OK, all settled? I know it isn’t a holiday themed page but I thought you might want to update your Christmas list for Santa at the last minute after seeing this delicious collection.

This page highlights a BIG scrapping trend right now. Have you noticed whimsical clouds floating across pages & gorgeous butterflies dancing through gardens of hand made flowers? Well I certainly have & thought I’d put a page together doing just that, using the *NEWLY RELEASED* Cupid Collection!

  • Using a piece of Bow & Arrow roughly draw yourself some cloud shapes on the underside & cut them out. Then take a fine tipped black pen & carefully doodle a line around the edges for emphasis.
  • For the butterfly fold a piece of paper in half & cut any butterfly shape . If you don’t feel confident to do this, a stamped, punched  or die cut one will do just as well. Again doodle around the edges of the wings.  Some green glittery feelers from the Limeade Expressions Glitter Alphabet sticker sheet will finish her off beautifully!

  • Next you need to grow a flower garden, using Hearts Bloom paper, a pair of sharp little scissors & a lot of patience, cut out a variety of flowers, stems & leaves. Use 3D puff squares to layer them & add dimension to the blooms as well as dimensional glaze here & there for extra twinkle.
  • The next step is to cut a mini bracket shape out of the Hearts & Bloom pink gingham, doodling the edge like the other elements.
  • Cut a few extra shapes from the Cupid-Postcard paper in case you need more for layering.
  • Now with all your newly made accents layer them together with your photographs onto a base page made with Cupid Bullseye.

So be honest …are you feeling a bit more relaxed & ready to tackle the rest of you day? I sure hope so!!
I’d like to finish off wishing you a VERY Merry Christmas & wonderful holiday time with your family & friends! I really hope Santa is generous to you all & fills your stockings jam packed with some Pink Paislee gorgeousness!!! Remember to take a look in the Live-Pink gallery for more Cupid inspiration from our talented design team!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!

Thursday Trends – Fancy Edges

Hello, hello! Michelle here with a new Thursday Trend using Pink Paislee yumminess!

While searching for a trend to highlight this time, I flipped through a few scrap magazines, looked through some online galleries – I was still a little unsure about what trend to highlight until I pulled out my Paislee supplies and noticed the lovely fancy-edged Office Lingo paper….and then I looked over at my scrap table and saw the scalloped-edge scissors I’d recently pulled out from their hiding-place-of-retired-scrap-things sitting on my table. And then it hit me! Fancy edges are really hot right now! They’re being designed in the form of lovely papers, tags, and die cuts for us to use, and we’re pulling out those scissors that were so popular back when we started scrapping years ago, but using them in new ways to get the same lovely edgy look ourselves - they’re so cool right now!

So, letting the Paislee edges be my inspiration and armed with my scissors, I grabbed some pictures and thought I’d try to do a multitude of edge styles on my page this time. I used the scalloped edge Paislee paper as a template to trace a scalloped edge onto the side of my photo and then hand-cut out the shape; I also accented the scallops with some small round punches. I also used a smaller postage-stamp like edged scissor, as well as hand ripping/distressing/curling up the edges of my patterned paper circles. I loved the pink paper as my background, but it had a plain ol’ edge, so I used a scalloped edge paper to trace the same design onto its’ edges and fancy it up a little! Here’s the result of my edge craziness:Hairdo_400_web

I used the “Casual Friday”, “Roundtable Scallop”, and Office Lingo Overlay from the Office Lingo collection, as well as the Office Lingo Clear stamps, Raspberry Holly Doodle Alphabet Stickers, and the “Umbrella Scallop” Spring Fling paper as my scallop template. Yum! And, yes, that is chubby little me way back in the ’80′s – I just had to scrap those pictures! They make me giggle everytime…

So be inspired by the wonderful Pink Paislee edges – add some to your pages, try it on your pictures! You’ll see why I love this trend so much!

Thanks for peeking, and happy day! And don’t forget about the Scrapfreak chat tonight! (See the post below)
