Core’dinations Blog Hop: Day 2

Hey everyone!  Roree here, and it is Day 2 of the Core’dinations Blog Hop!

For today’s post, I created some Thanksgiving paper cone favors that would be perfect for giving to dinner guests.

To create the cone, I started with an 8″ square piece of Core’dinations embossed cardstock.  I rolled the cardstock into a cone shape, and I adhered the edge.

I created a festive topper by cutting out pumpkin and leaf shapes with my Cricut Expression and Create a Critter cartridge.  I inked and distress the die-cuts and added some machine stitching for detail.

I then stamped an image from the Amber Road stamp set and cut it out.  I then layered the die-cuts, stamped image, and ribbon, and I adhered them to the cardstock cone.

I finished by added a little crinkle shred and candy.

If you left off the sewing, this could be a pretty quick and easy project.  And you could easily adjust the size to fit whatever type of goodie you wanted to add to the paper cone.

And don’t forget:

Mix It Up: Phantom & Twilight

Hey everyone!  Roree here, and today’s post is all about mixing a little past with the present:  Phantom & Twilight.  Twilight is still one of my favorite Halloween collections, and I was so happy to bring it back out and pair it with some of the fun papers and embellishments from the Phantom collection.

When I think of Halloween, I think of treats.  I thought it would be fun to create a cupcake box.  I used my Cricut Expression and Sweet Tooth Boxes cartridge to create the box.  I used patterned paper from the Twilight collection.

I then dressed up the roof line with the ‘Spooky’ sticker from the Phantom collection.

I just love this font!

Next, I created some ghosts using my Cricut Expression and Happy Hauntings cartridge, and patterned papers from both Phantom and Twilight.

I placed one ghost inside and one outside of the box.

Lastly, I created a couple pumpkins using my Cricut Expression and Mini Monsters cartridge.  I used Phantom papers and brads.

Monochromatic Monday – Purple

Hello everyone!  Long time, no see.  It has been a while since I have done a blog post on the Pink Paislee blog, and I am glad to be back.  :)

Today is Monochromatic Monday, and I have a layout to share with you.  When deciding on a color for this project, I went back through some of the more recent Monday posts to see what colors everyone had previously chosen.  One color I didn’t see was purple.  I hear quite a lot of people say that they don’t like purple or they have a hard time using it in their projects, but I really love the color.  It is one of my favorites.  Plus, being the mother of two girls, you can find something that is purple in almost any room in my house.  LOL   I went through my Pink Paislee supplies and found purple in three collections:  Hocus Pocus, Bayberry Cottage, and Twilight.  And because purple pairs so well with gray, I snuck in some Parisian Anthology as my neutral.  Gorgeous stuff!

I chose some photos of my daughter, Harper, with our dog, Phoenix.  Every time I look around, I find Harper with one of our dogs, petting, hugging, or giving them kisses.  She is such an affectionate kid.

For the papers, I used Beautiful Butterfly for the background, Skeleton Soiree, Hocus Pocus, and Sunset for the different shades of purple, and Fancy Filigree and Architectural Arch for the neutral accents.  For the embellishments, I used one of the Flower Darlings, a Flip Notes journaling spot, a couple of Punchouts die-cuts, a Cork Button, a Bella Brad, and the Expressions Cushies Alphabet.

I printed my journaling onto patterned paper with my computer and printer, and added some hand stitching details.  For the flower, I layered the brad, button, and cork button, and added a stitch and some adhesive to hold it in place.

I hope that my layout inspires you give the color purple a try.  You just might like it.  ;)

It’s Tasty Tuesday! …. Candy Anyone?!!!

Hi Everyone! With Halloween around the corner I thought I’d share this treat holder idea with you. I love to make these kind of boxes for the holidays.  I don’t get that many “trick or treaters” in my neighborhood, so I made this one kind of small, but the size of the box can easily be adjusted to suit your needs.  You can also change the theme of your box too. Christmas, Valentines and Easter are all really fun themes to try.

Here you can see the monster in it’s original form. Very cute as is, but I needed to do something food related, since my assignment was for Tasty Tuesday.

I removed the monster’s hands from the sign. Then removed all the wire from the piece, separating the head and legs from the “boo” sign. Using a jig-saw, I cut the sign so it wasn’t as wide and then rounded the corners to create the shoulders of the monster.

Tip: If you are not comfortable using a saw, you can use a couple layers of raw chipboard instead of the wood, that way you can cut it using a utility knife.

Once you’ve found the perfect size paper mache box for your treats,  you can begin covering all the components of the box.

As you can see, I used a lot of the Twilight collection on this piece. One of my favorite parts of this project are the monster’s eyebrows. I used “i’s” from the Expressions Glitter Alphabets for the eyebrows and one of the “swirly” elements for the mouth.

Some of the details:

The bolts were covered with Charming patterned paper, then spritzed with (Baby’s Breath) Shimmerz Spritz, to give a shiny metal effect.

Above, you can see I used a circle punch to cut a Punch-out. Then I painted the crescent shape with some Shimmerz, Pixee Dust (Blingz) paint to add a little sparkle.

The scalloped section of the border sanded then crumpled to give a distressed look.

The Chipboard Alphabets above were covered with Sunset patterned paper then painted with the same Pixee Dust paint, mentioned above. In the center of the “C” a  Expressions Glitter Alphabet I used the bat rub-on from the Twilight Press On set.

Have a TASTY, fun and safe Halloween!

Stampin’ Sunday – Spooky

Hello everyone!  Hope you are all having a great weekend so far.  It cooled down here this weekend, and I just LOVE it!  It really puts me in a Fall kind of mood.  Halloween will be here soon.  We just love Halloween at our house… the decorating, carving pumpkins, dressing up, candy… all of it.  Are you ready for it?  We made a trip to the pumpkin patch yesterday and did a little costume shopping.  Not much longer to go now.  :)

For today’s Stampin’ Sunday blog post, I went with a Halloween theme and focused on using stamps in an unexpected way.  I  used the little postage stamp from the Twilight Impressions Stamp Set to make spooky eyes that ended up being the O’s in my sentiment.

For this, I just inked and stamped the circle part of the postage stamp.  This was very easy, and it adds a fun and unusual twist to the card.  I also used the All Hallows Eve stamp from the set for some visual interest too.

Pink Paislee products used:  TwilightSunset, Eclipse, Twilight Impressions Stamps; Expressions Glitter Alphabets-Berry Blue

Other products used:  glitter cardstock sticker, buttons, ribbon, ink

I hope that this gets you to start looking at your stamps in new ways.
