Winter Wonderland Event {Day 12 Mittens Or Gloves?}

Welcome to the final day of the Pink Paislee Winter Wonderland Event!  What an amazing, inspirational, hand crafted journey we have been on for the last 12 days!  It has been such an honor for all of us to share these ideas with everyone. We know you are busy during this time of year and we appreciate that you “stopped by” and we loved reading your comments – they have put a huge smile on our faces.

Today I have a few darling paper mitten shaped ornaments to share with you.

and this set combines, Cozy Sweater and Hot Cocoa:

Shown below are a few easy steps to follow to get you started so you are able to create a pair of these darling mitten ornaments:

Step 1: Using a Spellbinders S4-285 Nested Mitten die template, cut mitten x 4, making sure to cut 2 right hand and 2 left hand so you have a front and backside for each mitten. Cut contrasting color of patterned paper using Spellbinders S4-285 Nested Mitten die template to cut mitten cuff.

Step 2: Adhere and stitch mitten cuffs in place. (stitching is optional)

Step 3: Using a fine tip applicator, apply adhesive around perimeter of mitten EXCEPT for upper cuff edge. Once adhesive is dry, using a tool such as a blunt tweezers, stuff mitten with a cotton ball.  Mitten will be slightly dimensional.

Step 4: Adhere upper edge of mitten closed, punch hole in upper left corner of both mittens. Using a Spellbinders S5-029 Nested Lacey Pennants die template, cut a tag then apply sentiment using Bitty Blocks.

Step 5: Using a piece of metallic cord, tie mittens together including 2 jingle bells and sentiment tag. Position mittens as desired, adhere together using a glue dot then attach a hanger made from a piece of metallic cord.

Thanks so much for looking! I hope you are inspired to create some homemade ornaments as well!

Ok…so you want to make some mitten paper ornaments too right?  We did too; but we don’t have the Spellbinders Die’s that Mona used so we quickly hand sketched our own mitten!  Today’s FREE PRINTABLE is a template that can be used to trace your own paper mittens if you don’t have any dies! Just click the image above and then right click the image that pops up to save it to your documents folder. Don’t forget you can use them over and over again as needed!

Winter Wonderland Event {Day 11 tag you’re it}

Welcome to day 11 of the Pink Paislee Winter Wonderland Event!  We have spotted lots of Free Printable gift tags circulating around the internet these past few weeks – and while pre-printed gift tags or even store bought tags make gift giving quick and easy; we think handcrafting your own paper tags can be just as fun!  If you prepare your supplies in advance and take an hour or so to make them all at once then you will have them ready and waiting when you need them.  I absolutely love this idea because it allows you to “match” your gift wrap colors perfectly!  Today we are going to show you a few handmade gift tag ideas that you can use as inspiration for your own versions!

This Snow Day line is as wintery sweet as can be!  I love anything with a red and aqua color palette so this one was right up my alley.  The dimensional stickers and ephemera in the Snow Day line make creating tags a cinch!  Here are three tags I whipped up in no time flat!

Snow Day Tag #1

Love these snowflakes from the Snow Day Ephemera pack!!!  Great embellishment!  Add a little sparkle with a gem or two.

Snuggle Up Round Tag #2

The Dimensional Stickers from the Snow Day Dimensional sticker set are too cute!!!  The layered effect makes adding pizzazz to a tag or card so easy.

Bundle Up Snowman Tag #3

This tag is me favorite!  I mixed all of the wonderful elements from the Snow Day line and added them to this tag.  One of the items that Pink Paislee makes that I love is the wood shapes!  So this little snowman had to make it onto one of the tags I made.  Here is how I “dressed him up”…

Step 1: Use Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Mist to spritz the wood shape

Step 2: Dry Between Layers – but keep misting until desired color is achieved.

Step 3: To add a little color to the snowman’s hat I used black diamond stickles

Step 4: To add some sparkly snow to the body I covered him with “diamond” stickles

Step 5: To finish off the snowman and to add even more sparkle – sprinkle on some dry silver glitter over the wet stickles.  Then allow the entire piece to dry.

Winter Wonderland Event (Day 10 What If It Doesn’t Snow?)

Welcome to day 10 of the Pink Paislee Winter Wonderland Event!  The past 9 days have been a marathon of creativity and all the ideas we have featured here are going to make your handmade holiday projects go even easier!

Although it doesn’t snow here in Southern Cali, I definitely found a way to use the Snow Day products on my layout.  The great thing about these patterns is that you can use them for other themes including valentines day, baby photos or everyday activities!

I used a photo that I took on Christmas day of my daughter Alyson who was in love with her new toy and I immediately thought of how she was bundled up with it all day long.  Once I uncovered the theme of my layout the rest of the pieces fell in place from there.

My title design was the key to making this layout pop.

I used the bundle up dimensional sticker embellishment and added some of the bitty blocks and wood shop alphas to complete the title. I decided to add the wood alphas to balance out the large “bundle up” embellishment because the rest of the title would have been lost if I used all small bitty block stickers to finish out the title.

Then I just finished the layout by adding snowflakes with pop dots and some journaling to tell the story!

Don’t be afraid to use winter themed products in non traditional ways!  You might be surprised how easy it is to mix and match patterns and colors with your everyday photos!

To help your kids express themselves this year (and to find out what they really want Santa to bring…) today’s FREE PRINTABLE is a full size letter addressed to Santa!  Just click the image above to access the image.  Then right click it and save it to your documents or desktop. Don’t forget you can use this letter over and over again as needed!

Today’s project also includes a FREE PROJECT SHEET that can be printed and saved for reference later! It includes all the step by step cutting instructions to complete this layout!  Just click the image below to print out the PDF.

Winter Wonderland Event {Day 9 Round & Round)

Welcome to day 9 of the Pink Paislee Winter Wonderland Event!  Today I have a couple of cards to share with you today that focus on “circles” and I will be showing you some tips for stitching in a circle!

My First Card: Snow Day

I create a circle shaped card, and I added some zigzag stitching around the graph patterned paper.  Because the label was not quite long enough, I cut it into two pieces.  I placed the snow day Ephemera die-cut over the empty space in between to give the illusion that it was one whole piece.

I painted the snowflake Wood Shape with white acrylic paint.  While it was still wet, I added some glitter and let it dry.  I sprayed the snow day Wood Shape with Tattered Angels S.W.A.K. Glimmer Mist, adhered it to the snow flake, and placed the heart Dimensional Sticker over the heart in the Wood Shape.  Then, I adhered the finished snow flake to the Ephemera die-cut and adhere it all to the card.

My Second Card: Bundle Up

I created a snow man by cutting out three different sizes circles, machine stitching around each of them, and layering them together.  I finished by adding the embellishments from the Snow Day Ephemera and Dimensional Sticker packs.

I get a lot of comments about how neat/straight my machine stitching is, so I thought I would share with you how I get it that way while stitching around a circle.

First, I start out by lining up my circle with the marks on the foot of my sewing machine.  The first mark (to the left) is line the needle will follow.  The second mark (on the right) is the line the outer edge will follow.

I always use these marks for guides while sewing.

I sew two to three stitches (on smaller circles like this), and stop.

The outer edge of the circle will have started to veer from the guide mark on the right.

I lift the foot and turn the circle towards the right, lining it back up with the guide mark.

I continue doing this until I reach the starting point.

I end up with a neat/straight stitch line around the edge of the circle.

Just remember: the smaller the circle, the more you will have to stop and turn the paper.  On a larger circle, you may not even have to stop at all.  (I didn’t have to stop at all on the first card.)  The more practice you get stitching on a curve, the easier and quicker it will get. I hope you enjoyed today’s cards and my tips on machine stitching around a circle.  I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season.

Winter Wonderland Event {Day 8 Paper Strip Wreath}

Hi there! Welcome to Day 8 of the Pink Paislee Winter Wonderland Event! Today I am going to show you a project that any beginning crafter can create and this would make a great craft activity for the kids!  You can decorate a cute winter wreath with your kids, and while you are at it you will also create a beautiful home decor wreath for the winter season!  I used the floristic wreath, which is made of small twigs, but you can use a wreath made from Styrofoam, floral foam, or simply make a wreath twisting paper.

You will need these supplies to get started - Pink Paislee products:

Other:

  • hot glue gun or very stron doublesided adhesive tape
  • 3 d foam tape or 3d glue dots
  • scissors

Step 1. Prepare a selection of patterns and cut paper into strips by the length of 11 inches and a width of about 0.5 – 1 inch.

Step 2. Wrap wreath with paper strip and glue the two ends.

Step 3. Repeat until the entire wreath will full of strips; you can cut ends of the strips decoratively, like as banners or in any way.

Step 4. Now swing strips in different directions to give it extra fluff – this can be done very easily with your fingers.

Step 5. Now add some lovely embellishments. I pasted  Dimensional Stickers, snowflakes, Mr. and Mrs. Snowman and the snowflakes from the Ephemera pack. I also used one of the labels from the ephemera pack for my title – it fits perfectly at the top of wreath.  Now it is ready to hang on the door!

To help you get started with your paper strip wreath – our FREE PRINTABLE for today includes (4) 1″ x 11″ pattern paper strips and some die cut snowflakes from our Snow Day collection!  Just click the image above to begin the download and save it to your documents folder. Open the sheet when you are ready and print it out on your regular color printer.  Don’t forget you can use these over and over again as needed!
